Okay, got an upcoming league game against Eldar, and here is the list I would like to run:
2x Shas'o, each with:
Plasma Rifle. Missile Pod, Shield Generator
2xCrisis suits, each with:
Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Multitracker
6x Stealth Suits
(four teams of 6)
16x Kroot Carnivores
(two squadrons of 6)
with 3 Rail Rifles
2x Broadside Suits, each with:
Smart missiles, Shield Generator
Rail Gun, Burst Cannons
Multitracker, Target Lock, Decoy Launchers
Total: 1620 points
Now, you can see the problem. With all the neat stuff I tried to fit in here, I ended up 120 points over. What would you advise cutting from this list in order to take it down to 1500 points?
Dropping off the Shas'os is a start. That much points are not really worth it at 1500 pts. Make one an 'el and the other a reg suit. that is 70 pts gone now get rid of one stealth suit and 2 drones, one from each group. Reason for ditching them is that the stealth will still be strong at 5 (That is 54 more
) and could not see much else to drop without redoing tons of the list Now you are under 1500 at 1496.
The Only Constant is change.
yup, shas'o droppage is a definate requirment. against eldar in a game i found 6 drones and 3 twin-plasma suits worked pretty well. the fire warriors are definately going to rape them to fibbons with that lovely ap5 @_@ poowr eldar. do you really think the drone squads nessicary? and I'm not sure on this, but i can sugjest maybe dropping the rail rifles, i dunno what you'd use um fer.
Protect your frailty in a Mechanical body.
Remove your frailty with mobility.
Hide your frailty in a body unseen.
I'd drop the Kroot and one Shas'O. Since that will put you under a bit, get something else that looks appealing.
i'd drop one shas'o and make him a standard team leader
i'd also switch the pathfinder team for another hammerhead, the pie plate will make a mess of most aspect warriors
less hate more kittens
When comparing numbers, I came to the conclusion that the upgrade from a normal Crisis suit to a Shas'o is well worth the points. He gets a much better BS, a respectable WS, four wounds, the ability to hardwire equipment (allowing him to have a shield generator and a multitracker, which is nice), and becomes an independant character. He does this all for 45 points (though it does cost extra for the extra equipment). 45 points seems a small price to pay to take that only-somewhat-reliable, ballistics-skill-three weapons platform to a tough, very reliable, ballistics skill 5 weapons platform. I take it you all think differently though?
Also, I would love to switch the pathfinders for another hammerhead, but I unfortunately only own one hammerhead atm...
After giving it some thought, I see that the Kroot might not be the best option, as Eldar (correct me if I'm wrong) tend to have lots of attacks and much higher initiative than three, meaning that the poor kroot are more likely to be chopped down than they are to do anything useful.
Also, the Rail Rifles are high on my list of things to go, especially as I don't know how many 3+ saves the Eldar have
Thanks for the advice so far.
