From what I know about those, I would be very afraid and unwilling to play.

OK generally I suspect this is a paper army or you do a lot of proxy,

You are aware of what air cav is? drop troops are not air cav, they are parachute, you need to drop the drop troop doctrine and fit as much as you can into Valkyries
Everything you have been told is a lie!

I can mulligan most of the storm troopers from models I already have (and by mulligan, I mean "scratch convert any available model that would be suitable", not proxy)

Yes, I'm aware of that, but each Valkyrie costs 195pts, not to mention the Heavy support Vultures needed to keep them in the air. I had to substitute the extra flying transport because

a) It would mean I have, like, 35 or so 4+ armour save troops, which would be slaughtered.

and b) ...have you seen how much Valkyries cost? I'll probably be scratch building my own designs instead of them.

And yes, I do know what air cavalry is, it's just the most appropriate term I think I could coin to describe the army. I don;t think there's an army in 40k that can totally live up to the phrase used to describe them.

Well, I prefer to think of it as a "economic challenge."

...and a "tactical challenge"

Thanks for the inpu, guys

Instead of air cav, why not just call them airborne? That fits the description of the army much better and airborne units tend to have air support, usually in the form of helos. (VTOL in this case)
The enemies of the Emperor fear many things. They fear discovery, defeat, despair and death. Yet there is one thing they fear above all others. They fear the wrath of the Space Marines!
