I've just glanced over the codex and have put together my first Necron List.I don't have the models yet but am planning to get them this weekend. It's a pretty generic list and was wondering if you could give me some advice.
1 Lord w/Res Orb and VoD
3x 10Necron warriors
5 Scarab Swarms
I believe this comes to 1000pts although I could be wrong.
It's a pretty standard list, though it's hard to be innovative with the selections available to necron. The only thing I might do is drop the scarabs for immortals or more warriors, I'm not the biggest fan of scarabs. If you do use em then you might want to give them disruption fields and go after vehicles.
The enemies of the Emperor fear many things. They fear discovery, defeat, despair and death. Yet there is one thing they fear above all others. They fear the wrath of the Space Marines!
I like scarabs but only if your list is more CC oriented with flayed ones or wraiths.
instead you might want to add some more destroyers or heavies.
Scarabs with disruption fields are excellent tankbusters. Turbo-boost them 24" to get across the field into some nice cover (invulnerable save in case they don't quite make it), then move 12" and assault 6" to kill the vehicle of your choice the next turn. I took out a Land Raider with a squad of 7 scarabs once. Dreadnaughts are iffy to take with scarabs though, since they can stomp on them fairly easily. If I were you I'd eliminate one of the warrior squads, add 2 scarabs, and then use the leftover points to add more warriors to the remaining 2 squads.
