OK, first off apologies for the misleading title - these aren't actually Night Lords. Instead they are Kheprian Scarabs, a mysterious loyalist chapter based on a desert world. They do however use the Night Lords army list because it suits it the best.
The big question is: do we include Chosen (i.e. veteran squad) in this 1000 point list? I like the bonus librarian and conversion opportunities, but it's a lot of points in a small unit. Should I replace the chosen with some more tactical marines, or maybe another assault squad (Raptors)? Anyway, enough with the jibber-jabber, here we go:
Captain Khembri (Chaos Lieutenant): Diamond-toothed Chainsword (Power Weapon & Daemonic Strength), Plasma Pistol, Refractor Field (Daemonic Aura), Terminator honours (Daemonic Mutation), Frag Grenades = 136
Veteran Squad (6, Chosen): CC Weapons, Bolt Pistols, Flamer, Plasma Pistol, Frag Grenades
Librarian (Sorcerer AC): Holy Vengeance psychic power (Winds of Chaos), Tears of the Emperor talisman (Warp Talisman), Power Weapon, Bolt Pistol
Tactical Squad (10, Chaos Marines): Bolters, 2 Plasma Guns
Veteran Sergeant (AC): Power Weapon, Bolt Pistol
Tactical Squad (10, Chaos Marines): Bolters, 2 Meltaguns,
Veteran Sergeant (AC): Power Fist, Bolt Pistol
Assault Squad (5, Raptors): CC Weapons & Bolt Pistols, Meltagun, Frag & Krak Grenades, Furious Charge
Veteran Sergeant (AC): Diamond-toothed Chainsword (PW & Strength), Bolt Pistol
All units have both Infiltrate and Stealth Adept veteran skills.
Can't give true grit to your csm unlees they have the mark of nurgle.
unless tey are termies, rators will do better, in getting in cc faster and with 3 flamers or meltaguns, can't go wrong!
drop the veterans and get more raptors
disonour before death
I was thinking more raptors as well, but I'd struggle to fit them in the points (19, unless I remove Furious Charge from both (possible). Personally I like the veterans, but I'm just wondering what you lot thought about that unit's effectiveness.
Wolf_Pack: What the...? Is this my army list you read, who said anything about true grit?
Can't give CCW and bolter unless you hsave true grit
unless its an error in the typing... ^_^
If you need more points, drop 1 csm per squad.
No error on my part:Originally posted by codex:CSM
Weapons: Each model may have a close combat weapon and either a bolter or bolt pistol.
its the other way around, ccw and bolt pistol, or a bolter.
yeah because whats the point in having a CCW if you have a bolter? as you dont get the extra attack for it
Well, basic CSM get either bolter & CCW or bolt pistol & CCW according to my Codex. There's no point in the extra CCW unless you have the Mark of Nurgle (i.e. true grit), but you still get it anyway.
I didn't really need to mention it really, I just copy-pasted the list from Army Builder and didn't remove it. I've now edited the army list - that better?
Anacron is right on this one, all CSM come with a CCW as standard and may then select from a bolter or bolt pistol. Sure there's no reason to have the CCW with a bolter but it's astetics. And besides, they're chaos, they need something spiky to kill with in close combat!
The enemies of the Emperor fear many things. They fear discovery, defeat, despair and death. Yet there is one thing they fear above all others. They fear the wrath of the Space Marines!
