Alright this is my first ever attempt at an Eldar army list. I have just tried to make and army list that is at least decent against most armies. I have a feeling it has a lot of mistakes, but here goes.

HQ
Farseer
Fortune
Shurikan Pistol
Witch Blade
Ghost Helm
81 Points

Elites
6 Warp Spiders
132 Points

8 Striking Scorpions
128 Points

Troops
10 Guardian Defenders
Warlock
Conceal
Bright Lance
161 points

10 Guardian Defenders
Warlock
Conceal
Scatter Laser
151 points

10 Guardian Defenders
Warlock
Conceal
Bright Lance
161 Points

Heavy Support
Falcon
Bright Lance
Crystal Targeting Matrix
Holo Field
Vectored Engines
185 Points

999 points

I tried to get a lot of units in. The falcon and the two guardian squads move to destroy enemy armor. The scatter laser defenders go after lower armor save enemies. The striking scorpians engage isolated enemy groups or prevent charges from hitting guardian squads. The warp spiders move around and hit specialized enemy squads, and just bug the hell out of the enemy.

Basic overall tactics...

Anyway any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just a couple observations I've made here, and feel free to ignore anything I say...
Striking Scorps are slow, so it'll be hard to get em across the field with no transport, I'd suggest possibly dropping it down to 6 scorps(which is low, I know) and letting them ride in the Falcon. Also I'd think about changing the scatter laser to a starcannon. 1-6 str 6 ap 3 shots vs. 3 st 6 ap 3 shots is a tough choice, but I personally prefer the SC. Other than that, the sheer number of brightlances you're fielding can make alot of tank heavy forces cringe. Good luck with your battles.
It's all up to the zombies now, really.

Wow you use more than the minimun number of guardians? thats fluffy. I personally dont think that guardians can get their points back. Try a few games with them and then you might want to reconsider.

scorpions might get shot to bits, once again try a few games with them and then try a few games with banshees, Youll find your favorite.

Falcoln probabily the best tank in the game

warpspiders sound like a good idea...if you learn how to use em

I think you should add a wraithlord, it can take up tons of fire. TONS, i dont think i would go in without one.

Since this is your first eldar army you just need to try things out to find out what you want to get...just like any army. Everyone have their own personal units, I personally think shining spears suck, but hey someone probabily likes them. So dont ever think ANYONES advice is right or wrong.

good luck mr 100 posts

dont mind this./\ he doesnt know what he's talking about. He hasn't seen what 20 gardians can do when they shoot a squad. 40 str 4 ap5 shots is nothing to laugh at, espesialy when it's guided(sp). and those 20 gardians where only 160 ponts too. 8 points is realy cheap for a close range bolter fireing elf.

other than that EXARCHS! they are awesome. they are what make aspect warriors so wonderfull.

Alright this is a really revised list.

HQ
Farseer
Fortune
Shurikan Pistol
Ghosthelm
Singing Spear
84 points

Elites
9 Striking Scorpions
Exarch
Biting Blade
Wave Serpent
Scatter Lasers
292 Points

Troops
16 Guardians
Warlock
Conceal
159 Points

10 Guardians
Warlock
Conceal
111 Points

5 Guardians
Scatter Laser
Warlock
Conceal
111 Points

5 Guardians
Bright Lance
Warlock
Conceal
121 Points

Heavy Support
Wraithlord
Bright Lance
120 points

Alright this list has some fast guardians which move up and rapid fire the enemy full of shurican fire. The smaller squads sit back and provide supporting fire. The wraithlord moves up in cover neer the larger guardian squads. When they get close enough he moves up near them to make them a less tempting target. Anyway more tactics are in this list but I have to go to class!

You've gotten a lot of advice here, but I think your second list is worse than the first. I've played eldar and learned my lesson the hard way that they drop like flies. The right troops have to get into the right situations on the battlefield, or all is lost. So the key points you need to consider are: A) is the unit going to last long enough to be effective? and does it have enough speed to get where it needs to be in order for its advantages to be brought to bear?

Eldar have good firepower, and have some really good CC units. But you can help yourself by creating an army list that enhances maneuverability and resilience. And always remember that the Eldar army is a combined-arms force, everyone has to work together to achieve synergy (where the whole is more than the sum of the parts).

My suggestions are:
Max out a couple of guardian defender squads to form the core of your troops. Give them a warlock with conceal. Don't bother with weapon platforms, just Fleet of Foot them into Shuricat range and do all the damage possible. These troops are expendable, just not too early. Hopefully they'll have enough numbers to get across the field and muck up the opponent's battle plan. Remember that Shuricats are assault weapons, so if you can assault, then do so, so you take away the enemy's advantage on the charge.

Keep your heavy weapons mobile, or at the very least, keep them separate from your guardian squads. Put them on Vypers or Falcons, or take a squad of D-cannons.

Ensure your Farseer has Fortune, as I find this to be the best power for the points, though Mind War is SWEET if you have the points to spare. Equip him with the basics. Put him with the lead guardian squad--they'll reroll their 5+ invulnerables! Use the mind war to pick off your opponent's nasties--there's no easier method in the game for getting rid of that annoying Plasma Cannon trooper or the Vet Sgt who just won't go down in CC! Deamon Princes FEAR mind wars, especially when they've already lost a wound or two.

For real close combat, I'm tempted to take Banshees over Scorpions against any opposing army except Orks and Tyranids. Banshees go first, ignore armor, and can keep up with the foot troops using Fleet of Foot. They are also equally deadly in small units when they have an Exarch among them. The Banshee exarch with the Acrobatic power and an Executioner is a very good character killer.

For real anti-tank power, take a small squad of Fire Dragons and put them in a falcon. They can also make a mess of the enemies elite troops like Terminators, a command squad, Immortals, and the like. But they need the transport in order to get close.

Protect your vehicles with CTMs, Holo Fields and Spirit stones, as the points allow. It can be really maddening for your opponent, and advantageous to you, when you reroll those vehicle destroyed results to be stunned, and ignore the stunned results because of the spirit stone. Or when you can make pop-up attacks and dissappear before he can return fire!

Wraithlords are fine but they're slow and draw fire, so they usually die before they make it into CC where they really excel. A bright lance is a good way to get some worth from them before they fall, by using the BS 4 to pop a tank or two while they're on the move towards an assault.

That's the best advice I can offer. When the new codex comes out, I'm thinking that Guardian Defenders will become more potent (as will the eldar's psychic abilities) and everyone will want to play eldar. So hang on a little longer!
