So it has been a while since the last Los Angeles Grand tournament, and I still haven’t devoted myself to a new force. I have several options on what I can do.
A. Play my marines again with the new codex.
I have my custom army colors and the majority of the force fully painted and ready to go. All I need to do is get some alternate heavy weapons and perhaps a new command squad, and I would be done.
B. Play Chaos
A Nurgle / Khorne army that beckons me from the warp. I played a Khorne / Nurgle army when I was younger, but sold it off. Should I re-visit chaos?
I have been thinking about building a mostly fire warrior based force to shoot the crud out of pretty much anything. The fact there are so few Tau players at the GT makes me want to play them.
I want to build a Swooping hawk based force lead by Baharoth (Âżsp?) 3 units of hawks with exarches and the phoenix lord, backed up by loads of war walkers and guardians.
E. Start a Beast of chaos army in WHFB
So what do you think?
Marines have the custom chapter and are a pretty solid force, and proved themselves last year. Or do I fall to chaos and join in on the slaughtering? Tau look so nice on the battle field and all those guns, how can you go wrong? Or do I go for a really cool themed force that might actually do well?
Go eldar as your imaginations the limit with them especially when using craftworld eldar lists. But please please dont build that horrendous swooping hawk thing it will do really badly. And always always have a farseer as your first hq choice ( although baharroth is good) Id say even if you go for some other army buy the craftworld codex as it will give you some great ideas for future projects.
Good luck at the next tournament
He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day!
Go with Tau. Be different. Find a way to make one of the best points per effectness troop win!
Besides I play guard, I like shooty!

Go with the Beasts of Chaos if you want a REAL change from 40k
Ah, the tau. Hammerheads make a nasty suprise to anything, be it infantry or vehicals, while fire warriors can put a sheer wall of fire. Stealth suits can jump around, 6" in movement, 6" in assault unhinderd thanks to the stealth field and than massacre the enemy's troops(3 shots per suit). Than you have crisis suits, same movement as stealth but mountain big weapons. And than you got the kroot, decent HtH if u need em.
Tau'n Expeditionary force:
PM me any fluff or pictures on the adeptus custodes you can find!!!!
Tau. Hmm. I hate the tau. Probably stemming from my love of tyranids and huge amounts of hormagaunts. And the fact that my hive tyrant spent four turns chasing a commander round in a 1-on-1 campaign fight, missed every warp blast apart from one (which only killed a drone) and proceeded to be attacked by a carnosaur. Which it killed, but only after taking 2 wounds. Then got plasma rifled.
Going tau would be different, but if you want a change from marines you could go with them, as they are based on one aspect of the game, shooting. Or, even though you didn't put that in your list, a solely cc-based army, like orks, or NIDS rather than sticking with your all-rounder marines.
