What is good about the iwtch hunters is
a) the fluff - tons of bakcground and a reason to fight every race (no more confusing Ultramarines vs Imperial Fists battles)
b) the models (on one hand you have the models of the inquisition and things like pneitant enignes which are really individual and wierd and cool looking and on the other hand you have the Sisters of battle in thier ornate holy armour weilding all manners of flaming death)
c) the units (you have access to some really cool and nasty units - such as the arco -flaggelants - that can scare the socks of your opponent and destroy everything in thier path, and you also have the most Econmical troop choice in the game - the standard battle sister)
d)you have an unique playing style (you are pretty much the only army the completely burinates at medium range. Also it is a reasonabley challanging army to play - if you win it will be because of your tactical ability - not becuase your army is made of power-amroued supermen)
That's pretty much all the reason you need to collect witch-hunters . So if you want a force that shadowy and secrititve, yet holy and unswerving and has lots of flamers and lunatics the Witch-Hunters are for you! Join today and buy the Codex.
however if you don't like WH <_< Dark eldar or Eldar. Or maybe tau.
id go for orks, they are much diffrent from marines, good conversions , no power armor (or very good armor for that matter), very easily customized, and not very many people play orks so i think they would be a good choice, but its up to you
Nothing a Battle Cannon Couldnt fix
Take your pick out of this lot:
Orks - lots of CC-orientated troops, bad shots, possibility for lots of light vehicles
Dark Eldar - Small number of fragile but very mobile roops, with a predeliction for CC
Eldar - See above, but not necessarily so CC focused. Not all that convertable but versatile army selection available
Imperial Guard - lots of weak men, lots of heavy weapons, lots of tanks, regimental doctrines, small range of easily customised models
Tau - Very shooty, very vulnerable to CC unless used properly. Not open to much converting or individuality
Lost & the Damned - Very convertable (particularly mutants), large amounts of poorly armed and armoured troops. They get a punch from some CSM allies & IG kit
Necrons - Very durable, won't budge, phase out, and little or no customisation
Did I miss any?
yes you missed one, the best one! GENESTEALER CULT.. ok maybe not..... since i have veto on that army but i dont understand why you dont want nids, there the most custimisable army ever! else i would sudgest orks since they can be converted into alot of funny thing
Is it even fair to use genestealer cult, if you can have like 200 literal models and stolen tanks, and genstealers.... But anyways i'd say KROOOOTS.... but i already know your not going to say no. I would follow that up by saying Dark eldar, but did you hear about how they are re-modeling all of their guys?? Well they are so you might not want to start them right this second depending on if you care.Originally posted by patriarch@Feb 12 2005, 19:21

actually people arent starting orks as much for some reason, play them
"God works in mysterious ways."
"Everything happens for a reason."
I actually have a slug living in YOU, right now...
Slowly will start playing: Iyanden, and Chaos.
Orkses customizable and kool
pluz theyz writ kool
waaaaaghhh humies r weakz
Well that was fun
Go for eldar. If you want an army which you carn't just throw ino combat like you can with marines. get either Saim Hann or Beil Tan. Saim Hann have almost all fast attack, so they'ld be good for you. Beil Tan have like 6 different troops to choose from, with each squad able to take an exarch (squad leader) who can have a minimum of 4 options. Then you can take all of the other Eldar stuff after that. A word of warning-Saim Hann is a VERY expensive army to collect.
Don't worry too much about life-it isn't permanent.
They say that a space marine is superhuman, a hundred times more powerful than a normal man. Mon-keigh, one hundred times zero is still zero.
Do you hear the screaming? Its Edward Scissorhands wanking...
Go witch hunters. you want power armoured troops with a differance, these ladies rock. You have the power of the adaptus sororitos, the faith of the cannonese, and the zeolous steel of the witch hunter inquisitors. The army itself has some rock hard units, like the brilliant excorcist, and crazy units like arco-flaggelents which have inv.4+ and rock in combat and the amazing penitent engines which also rock in combats, and generally scare your opponent.
thebear, and taint_of_the_darkones are totally right. Both these armies are cool looking, good for conversions, and have unqiue units that can scare the socks of your opponent. it is really a matter of your prefernece in fluff. Witch-Hunters are zealous fighters, so much indeed that it can affect a battle. They also have various loonies and assasins to go into close combat, and have some fo the weridest/coolest/good concersions modles areound. Eldar are good if you like the kind of High tech, sleek thing. They have advanced technology, awseom untis (like the Avatar) and are really fast. Plus you have differnt craft worlds to chose from! most of the bulk of these forces are toughness below 4 so you won't have the traditional power amoured muscle there. Just see if you can steal/borrow each cosex from a friend/GW staf member and have a read and decide. Either way you have an aweseom force. ^_^
