I do realize that every newb on the planet likes to ask this but it's good to ask before shelling out the $$$ it takes to build an army. I've narrowed it down to 3 the Tyranid, Tau and Imperial Guard. I'm looking for anything useful that can be contributed one way or another toward any of the above mentioned. Money is not an issue in the slightest. I ask this because the local game shops suck for any information. They could care less who i play as long as i buy from their stores. I thank you in advance for your time.
depends on what you want, if you want a horde close combat army with very little fire support, go with nids, if you want a very shooty army with very little close combat capability, go for tau, and if you want a horde army that is o.k. at shooting( not as good as tau) but lasts longer in close combat than the tau, go for imperial guard.
if you are reading this signature, then you are wasting you're time, and i am wasting my time by writing it, so run along now, jimmy, run along.
I think you would be better of if you posted a topic in every section asking main strenghts and weaknesses. These ppl c you more then we can because they have more experience with those armies then we have. (At least more then I I hope)
However with that statement out of the way, I would say listen to ArchonBjorn. He has a really good tendency to not say stupid things and give bad advice.Learn from yesterday.

Before you post the "why" question in every forum, try reading what's already there. This topic has been discussed many times and the answers you seek are probably already there.
Also, "which army..." posts always get the same answers. Whatever the responder's favorite army is, is what they recommend. In the end it's completely useless.
Read about each army, decide what you are interested in painting and playing, then buy them. It's you that will have to make the choice.
