Well, I have been playing with my Necrons for quite a while now (one year and 4 months to be exact). And I'm looking to field a new army which will be a tad different from my beloved metal zombies. Hopefully, this will enable me to have several more playing styles. BUT, I would prefer if I didn't play the overplayed SM and CSM (The various Chapters/Legions/Cults doesn't add to much variety to the "originals" either.) I don't really care if they are a shooty or a assault army, but a balance between both is preferred (Yes, I know, SM). Oh, and did I mention I'm really quite poor? (No Armoured Company for me, sigh.)
On a another topic, do you play an army which one of your friend plays?

Well one sujestion, is to do Witch Hunters, Our list is VERY flexible and you can have IG, SM or DH allies to change things up even more! Plus you can make many models like the Inquisitors + Retinues for example Throuh Conversions, I'm currently working on some Acolytes and stuff. Plus the WH are very fun to play, there the cross between Shooty and CC armies, with many WH units unsing Medium ranged weapons like Meltas and Flamers. I have enjoyed painting every model and every conversion, at the very least look into 'em!!!
Mike is right, Inquisitors are great to convert. That should make a change from your zombies.
P.S. In your sig, that pariah hasn't arrived yet :p
That's because they are only Initiative 2, It will take a while to make it there.P.S. In your sig, that pariah hasn't arrived yet
Anyhow, I would personally say that playing IG is a good bet. The reason for this is that they are nearly infinitely flexible. They can take SoB's as allies for great shooting and decent CC. Also, you could take some GK's for some really sweet CC and a couple of nasty nasty weapons.
Personally, if you want to have some inquisitors in your army, then I suggest starting with a base of IG (So that you can still get their doctrines) and adding some Inquisitorial support. The inquisition really knows how to flesh out the weak spots in an IG army, which really is only their lack of CC.
Not to mention, who DOESN'T want a sweeeeet Baneblade or Imperial Titan to look forward to purchasing at Christmas.
I am going to suggest to you Dark Eldar for a really different challenge to your Necrons.
Dark Eldar ahve great shooting and great close combat abilities as well as being hideously fast and having the best value HQ in the game, as well as in my opinion the best value basic troop in the game.
Despite their inherrent superiority, er I mean advantages, Dark Eldar are also incredibly fragile and unforgiving so they will give you a very different cahllenge to you 3+ save get back up again necrons.
I would suggest one of the Eldar/Dark Eldar armies. With the craftworlds, Halequins and the two regular codice, they offer some serious flexibility in which direction you want to go. They're fast and fragile, (in comparison to Necrons, well, except for Iyanden). They also have some expensive, (points wise), units so the army shouldn't hurt your pocket book to much.
I would of course, of course, suggest the GREAT DEVOURER, but they can get expensive due to all the little gribblies.
