As a DE player for some time I have come across a wide range of reactions to my army of choice, almost all either suprised or worried. I am wondering what the perception of the army is from those fo you who don't play it, I know hwat I think of them and what many DE players think, but we are all biased, so what are your thoughts?
I would also ask you to tell me what composition score you would give an army made up fo the following at a tournament and why:
A commander with a 2+ invulnerable save and a webway poratal that is also a close combat monster
3 Units of Warriors in Raiders (fast vehicles that have a dark lance mounted on them and can carry troops), all with Splinter cannons Blasters and Agonisers (power weapons that wound on a fixed value regardless of toughness) coming on through a web way portal
2 units of 15 warriors with 2 splinter cannons, two blasters and a sybarite with an agoniser, one fo these has a webway portal
1 squad of warriors with a pair of dark lances (heavy weapons for taking out tanks)
2 Squads of wyches in raiders that come through the portal
1 talos also comgin through a portal
I have deliberately not wirtten this out as a full list so you go with your instincts on reading it.
i think people who play dark eldar have to be able to put up with frustration quite a bit. I also this DE players are twisted ic psycopaths like their army but thats just me. I have a lot of respect for all you pointy heads out there. good job on beating my rock hard space marines with your fragile pointy heads. :p

I almost played DE and I own the codex/have studied up on them quite a bit..
So, here's my response: Run. Run as fast as you can. The majority of people that will play DE and stick with it are extremely good opponents. Opponents rightfully feared, because DE when used correctly is a crazy army.
I would be extra careful vs. DE, but since I, as a studier/almost-player, know a lot about them I usually know which targets to go after. (Curse you, Archons!)
I would have to give it a composition score because a company who's made Tyranid MC and all Terminator lists (I hate Terminators) says I have to? Come on. I like the actual playing of the game more than composing lists, and only do the latter when I'm bored.
I almost never get to play Dark Eldar, and I'd love to go up against a skilled player for the sheer fun of it. If I had to give it a compsition score, it'd score pretty well. And I'm getting the drift by looking at non-Imperial Eldar fluff that Dark Eldar are like futuristic Drow, not the Chaos Eldar that Imperial fluff implies.
Dark Eldar have been screwed by GW for so long, I'd love to buy the revised codex when it comes out just to see what GW fixed and what they broke. And this is coming from a Space Marine player. I just happen to hold all races in equal regard.
Victorus aut mortis,
I completely agree with this, and DE armies are so damn fast in the hands of a good player that before you know it, half your armies dead before they can even strike back. I'm a big fan of DE and as soon as they get updated I'll be starting a new DE army. I just love fast armies!! :pOriginally Posted by Lost Nemesis

Whenever i see a DE armt on the table I get slightly worried. I've always had trouble with DE. They're just so damn fast. My mind would be scrambling and trying how to get around all that speed and those nasty cc Wyches.
As far as the Dark Eldar I like 'em. I've always liked thier fluff and the entire theme of the DE army. What I don't like is the horrible mini range and the sad lack of attention they get from GW. Plus to be honest I'm simply not a good ennough 40k player to be able to use DE effectively. They require a certain playing style that I just can't get into.
Fast? I'm worried that I'm not fast enough lol.Originally Posted by Edicius

Pretty much yeah, If you see a large sized DE army like that, fear it. That player will give you a very hard fight.
That army will probably get a good comp score from me, since it fits very well with the DE scheme of "Everything CC goes in raider, Everything else is DL/SC toters"
Dreams give us a vision of a world unlike any we have seen. They present us with a glimpse of a better life; a goal to aspire to, and in the face of insurmountable odds, they provide us with the power to overcome, to live on, and to succeed where we would have otherwise failed.
I get slightly worried when i see a DE player. They are fast and probably vets. If they aren't vets then they're very strong willed players to play a difficult to master army. I also admire them for playing, what i consider, a difficult army. Being a heavy chaos player I cna't really tell them off for playing the bad guys. Not that I would even if I didn't play chaos. I'm a very unjudgemental guy. :p
"DICE FOR THE DICE GOD!"
And the almighty Dice God said to his followers "Thou shalt not speak ye words "anything but a one" For thou whoever'st speaketh this blasphemy will be cursed with thy rolls being of one".
The way I see it every army is a little evil or greedy in 40k maybe except the Tau.Being a heavy chaos player I cna't really tell them off for playing the bad guys.
Regarding the army comp I think its pretty good. I usualy dont care unless the army is constructed of cheese:blink:. I have never played against a DE army and from what I've heard I get the impresion to fear them, though something that alwase comes to mind is that GW is supposed to make the armies as evenly balanced as possible(though I sometimes get the feeling there is favoritism for certain races *coughs*marines*coughs*). I think the models are pretty cool and a couple weeks ago was thinking of playing them but decided that I'd go regular Eldar instead. The players... well I cant comment on the players cuz I've never met a DE player, but yeah DE is just another army, the army you choose shouldnt define what type of person or player you are .The armies I play are Lizardmen and IG (Eldar soon to) they are pretty different. Though Eldar (Dark or normal) are hard to play so cudos to anyone who can play them well (hopefully I will be able to master the eldar also).
