I don't know about most of you guys, but I like it when I can get anything cheap. What i'm wondering, is what do you belive to be the cheapest army. This is $ wise not points wise. I'd like to start a new army, but without breaking the bank. Basically, I don't really care if they are the easiest to play or the hardest, i'm just in it for the fun.
id say marines cause theyre expensive in points so you dont need a lot just get termies and assault troopers and tool up a chaplain with termie amor. add a few tactical squads and thats enough to go on for a core
Yeah, any army that's heavy on the points means you won't be buying too many models, saving you money.
Stay away from armies that require you to buy 600 guys to make 1000 points. (:cough: GUARD! : cough: ) :p
You can pick up cheap deals on full armies from places like Ebay and Wargamer. Or just buy the GW army box set.
Well it looks like i'm gonna go with SM. However, theres a bunch of different chapters, and I have never really had the time to look at the differences. Help with this would be much obliged.
well, each has there own style of fluff so.....
Blood angels: once were sanguine, now, because of the visions of the horrible death of there primarch, Sanguinius, they can turn into uncontrollable beasts, seeking out the foe!
Space wolves: The space wolves arent the most civilised chapter, Drinking huge amounts of ale, and feasting!, however, in battle, the space wolves are a noble force, that live for there pack, and russ.
Salamanders: Perhaps the most sombre chapter, the salamanders bring fiery death to the foes of the emperor with holy plasma and flames. They refuse to make any succesor chapters.
Iron Hands: This Space marine chapter despises flesh, seeing it as a weakness. they look forward to the day were they can leave the weakness of human flesh behind.
Imperial Fists: A Proud, Pious chapter, that are the siege specialists out of the first founding chapters
Raven Guard: The Raven Guard are Assault orientated, fielding large amounts of assualt marines.
Ultramarines: They follow the Codex Astartes completely, except in there including of Tyrannic War Veterans in to there doctrine. Probably have the Most War tales, such as the battle for maccrage.
White Scars: The White Scars are the lighting on the battle field, the snake about to strike. they specilise in raids, and take to the field on bikes!
Dark angels: The Dark Angels have a terrible Secret, one sorrounded in mystery. A portion of there leigon fell to the dark powers of chaos, and now they hunt down there fallen bretheren.
Now, you can also make your own chapter with the chapter traits in Codex Space marines, bringing your own ideas to life.
hope i've helped!
well done for choseing the marines lol this is what i beleave to be a quick and simple desciption of each of the chapters
dark angels: a shooty army manly, that useally has lots of plasma but can have a all termie army if you want (you may want to consider them because you dont have to buy many models) or you can have an army of all bikers or landspeeders (even ones with HB and AC )
black templers: a manly ccw army (i wouldnt really know) that takes vows at start of battle i think has the next codex out which would be cool
space wolves: a ccw army that also has some very good shooting things has the best basic troop type in the game IMO and has some really good combos of units and lots of HQ
blood angels: a manly ccw army (can be very shooty if you really want) that sometimes goes insane and charges foward had the most powerful ccw squad that space marines can get IMO (its death company) and the whole army has furious charge for free!!!
hope that helps a bit :p
(><)This is Bunny. Im helping him on his way to world Domination!
After you get your army all painted up and ready to go your not going to want to find out they dont embody the style of fighting you really want, i say, read some codexs firgure out which army reprosents what u wanna do the most on the battle fiends and that reprents your style. then build them one squard at a time, its better that way anyway. Having 30+ modeling wanting to be build and painted can be a dawting task for a weekend. Have fun
Deathwing is pretty cheap, you just need a few terminator squads and a pair of Dreadnoughts and a librarian in termie armour.
Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
Blood angels generally need 5-10 models on foot w/ccw & bp spare in case some marines go insane and join death company.
