First of all, I would like to thank this great site for making it so easy to register. Secondly, I would appreciate some advice on my army list that I game with at my local store. Here's my ragtag army:
1 Emperor's champion- 105 points
1 Marshal w/ bolt pistol, power weapon, terminator honours, jump pack, purity seals, and melta bombs-101 points
9 man tac squad w/ bp ccws, 1 with pw- 145 points
6 man tac squad w/ bolters, 1 w/ flamer- 96 points
5 man tac squad w/ bolters, 1 w/ meltagun- 85 points
5 man tac squad w/ bolters, 1 w/ rocket launcher, 1 w/ plasmagun-91 points
5 man tac squad w/ bolters, 1 w/ rocket launcher- 85 points
5 man assault squad- 2 w/ power weapons, all w/ meltabombs- 165 points
1 dreadnought w/ assault cannon, dreadnought ccw, heavy flamer. extra armor, and smoke launchers- 123 points
The emperor's champ joins the 9 man hth squad, the marshal joins the assault squad, and the 6 man squad w/ a flamer and the 5 man squad w/ a melta gun tag along with the hth squad. The meltagun squad cracks open transports and armor, while the flamer squad is for hordes. If possible, I will throw all 20 marines and the EC onto the enemy at once. Nothing is quite as scary is getting dogpiled by marines! The 5 man tactical squad with a plasmagun and rl take out tanks from medium to long range, along with the 5 man squad with only a rocket launcher. The dreadnought advances w/ the hth troops and tears open armor as well. The assault marines and marshal take out command squads with their power weapons, and can also bust heavy armor with their melta bombs. This army can also be drop podded, but I have yet to experiment with that. I generally take the Accept Any Challenge vow that makes the models always hit in a hth on a +3, but I will use Uphold the Honour of the Emperor if there isn't much cover on the table. Any ideas or comments would be welcome.
By the way, those are all the marines I own, but I do have a predator annihilator and a rhino lying around somewhere if I needed to make changes.
Ok I might be tired and not seeing it but were are the terminators
A squad of 5 termies would take up 1/5th of the armies point cost, and I decided to put my faith in the standard space marine troopers.
Looks fairly good but you need more assault marines and something to really characterize it as templars - lots of assault marines would do this.
Replace the marshal with a chaplain as he comes with a 4+ inv save.
Rhino is definitely needed too so you can assault with the champ quicker.
By the way dont double post, the mods dont like it. They think you are spamming and the topic might get locked.
Just letting you know because your new. If you want to add stuff on edit your post dont make another.
How come nobody uses Neophytes? Anyways, drop the Missile Launchers, as Black Templars are better when charging. As far as vows go, I like Suffer Not The Unclean To Live, as it helps out in assault, the Templars specialty. And I agree with the last post, the Chaplain is probably a better use of points than the marshall, with his built in Inv. save.
termies would be a bad idea in a 1000 pt army, so dont listen to blood god, and i think in small games, its very unexpected, and especially with templars, you should add the good ol assault marines (NO JUMP PACKS) and put them in rhinos and just rush the hell outta them, i like sm rushes. i also like women.
