hay...i was wanting to start a nid or ork army because i like armys with numbers but i have no idea on wich to pick..can some 1 give me pro's and cons on the 2?
OK I've never actually played as either, but I've played against both.
Pro: Fun to play as (ork players really get into character )
Con: The only time I saw them play each other, the Orks got pwned - if you want a cc army I say go with the bugs
Pro: Arguably the best cc army in the game
Con: No fluffy customisation. Some people are gonna disagree with me on this, but I think nids don't have much scope for personalising your army beyond the colour scheme (no 'heroes' etc)
A couple of other things to consider:
Both are really gonna cost a lot of money, whatever your currency
Both are gonna take ages to paint (you may like this but I don't)
If you want numbers, also consider the Guard and LatD
Hope this helps
ya i was thinking about gaurd or latd but i dont like em much in my opinion if i play a future war game thing i woldent want to be human it to....bland and i work with my dad so i make about $50-$150 a week depending on stuff and i paint with my cuzin becouse the closest GW place is rite by his house so i usealy visit a wile and we paint his/my modles o btw eny 1 els wana coment?

Hmmm well first off both army's are pretty good at CC. I think they are pretty equal in CC. I personally like orcs better and they are more fluffy then tyranids IMO.
Pros: Fun to play; good CC ability
Cons: Expensive, takes a long time to paint
Pros: good CC ability
Cons: Expsnsive; takes long to paint, not as fluffy
orks can use almost any imperial (guard or marine) vehicle as a basis for conversion into trukks and you can use almost any imperial weapons for just about anything (IMO orks are the better choice).
'Nids don't offer quite as much conversion opportunity as orks as they don't loot gear off their opponents (they just eat them).
orks are way cooler and and dang fun to play, with the basic codex it'll be tough though. But if you use ferals or Kult of speed you can do very well.
actually id say dat 'nids would own orks in CC anyday.
having played both ill give some advice
Pros: looted vechicles twin-linked assualt rockets, relatively good in CC (have choppas reduce armour saves to 4+ -best anti-terminator weapon in the game) offer a wide-varity of tactics to use. Have one of the best anti-fall back rules in the game (mob up) Has the most devastating charge in any army (waaaaaaaagh!) especially with a nobb squad and warboss kitted-out.
Cons: They are expensive to buy money wise, cant hit a barn wall from 3 feet away. Will take along time to paint a full army/one that is effective.
Pros: Like said probably the best CC army in the game. Large amounts of units at a relatively cheap cost. large "beasty" things like 'fexs and tyrants. Can actually shot sometimes and hit. Are very fast.
Cons: no vechicles, very costly and require a large time to paint an army. Are large and un-weildy-require extensive forthought on how to manage synapse. Synapse is also a mager disadvantage if not careful.
just my 2cents.....
i personally have a ork army and i find that you can excel at shooting and close combat.
the bad moons list given in a white dwarf allows flash gits to be taken as troops choices, which means, if u give them more dakka, you can have infantry with 2 attacks, and 2 shots with 24 inch range.
this gives you the power to do pretty much anything with your units, also with the ability to put 4 rokkit launchas in each unit makes for anti-armour too.
those who are unaware best hear this... they are among us, and they are pointless to fight against, their speed, their cunning, their stealth is far beyond that of which we percieve.
we must join or fall, we must heed the call of the beast within.
the call of the wulfen is at hand.
^agree wif wat he said but id like speed freakz better, all those trukks n stuff. plus nobb biker squads OWN
I think Synapse is the best anti-fall back rule in the game. Sure, orcs can mob up, but ANY tyranid model within 12" of synapse is fearless. Single gaunts press on because of the presence of a tyrant or warrior. Not to mention it'll protect you from instant kill weapons.Originally Posted by insomnia
