Ten years painting Dark Angels green has worn done my tolerence for Marines. Therefore I'm going to start a new army. Only problem is, I don't want to play one that everyone else does. So I thought "Tau....they look good, and I bet no one plays them". Boy was I wrong. I walk into my local GW last week, case full of FW's ready kick butt and what do I see...three other Tau armies. Needless to say my spirits fell. So now I want an army that few people play so I don't have to deal with same race games any more. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (Note: I'm new to the area where I live and I've been to my GW exactly once, saw Tau, Chaos, Guard, Tyranids and SM's...also I will not play So

In an army I like...mobility, and firepower, but loathe hand to hand as I've been doing it to long(I somehow made a DA army which was HtH oriented....I dunno either) for these reasons I picked Tau, but look how that turned out

I'd suggest Dark Eldar. They are the most mobile army around and they have good weapons. But, also to balance it out they have good close combat units. I don't know anyone around where I live that plays them besides me, either.

I would say eldar. Fast, very shooty (especially the craftworld biel-tan), and quite like Tau, in some ways (but in others, not). They also have great fluff, and you can also fight against virtually any opponent, fluffwise.

I would go with Necrons since they have alot of firepower, their destroyers, scarabs, and wraiths offer alot of mobility, and the warriors initiative 2 say that they are not the best at h2h

For a challenge you could try the Adeptus Mechanicus since their army release isn't that far away and they have everything you wanted:

Mobility: The Admech has access to lots of Land Speeders.
Firepower: a squad of 4 Cataphract Robots (two Hvy Wpns) plus the support weapon platforms.
Loathe hand to hand: The Admech rely on firepower to win, there are very few HtH units in the army.

Untill the army does come out, you will need to convert existing models.

W/D/L

Dwarfs 1/0/0 (Reset due to new rules)

Space Marines 0/0/0 (still under construction)

Oh yeah, you shouldn't Exclude Sisters of Battle from the list of possible armies to play. They are THE least played army as far as I can tell. A new codex is coming out for them, so you may want to wait a few months, but it promises a lot. Also its rumored that in the new codex they might be able to be played as Allies, so you could team them up with your Dark Angels. They dont play anything like Space marines, if thats one of your reasons for not playing them, and they arent a weak army, their just hard to figure out. but with a decade under your belt you could probably do really well with them.
