I find myself constantly making shifts in my lists, to the point I don't really have a static one.
It's always modifiable HQ with possible Troops and then whatever I feel like, hopefully a good match up against what I'm fighting.
But that isn't how this game is played, is it?
I mean, you have to submit (and stick too) lists for tourneys and stuff.
I mean, do you guys keep around static lists for your army/specific enemies, or do you make up your lists a different way for every game ever?
Sig by:Knape, The Celestial, and Marlinspike, thanks guys!
I try to keep my core units the same but i will mix up the weapons and options if need be.
I find that I tend to change my lists from battle to battle. So, I end up making a lot of lists. Before I go to my hobby shop, I'll usually throw a list together, and use that list. Sometimes I'll modify it a little after I'm there but usually not to much. Then, other times I'll take a completely different list.
I use different lists all the time! Its great fun
Though I do keep my model configuration the same (I play Nids), I just mix up what models I use from time to time...
Keeps it interesting...
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
I make up balanced tourney lists (in a few cases more than 1 list) for the following point totals:
500, 800, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1800, 2000, and just pull one out as needed. That being said I've got two marine armies with very different models and tactical approaches and a Dark Eldar army. Plus I've got enough marine models to field some interesting DIY combinations. So I have maybe 40 or 50 fairly balanced premade lists. That gives me a huge range of options without having to fiddle with options and gear. I notice that people dislike having to wait for someone to crunch points, they feel like you are tooling up to counter thier specific army.
I do make seperate, specialized lists for Cityfight though. Some troop choices and weapons that are either risky or 'out of fashion' in a regular game are very effective in Cityfight

If I'm trying out a list before a tourny, I'll make the list and play a few games, tweak it, play a few more games before I settle on it. If I'm just playing, I generally write up a list before I head to the store or as soon as I get there, before I face anyone. I try very hard to not build lists specifically to fight a certain army type.
I do, however, thoroughly enjoy when someone finds out the army I'm playing, takes a second to amend their list (obviously swapping in a unit or two that is designed to trounce the army I'm playing) and I still kick their ass.

I usually pic what I want to play, though I have a couple of listes for each army with me when I play, so people can do requestes or if I don't feeel like making a list or want to play one of my already created listes, I just pic one of those, but mostly it's just be4 a battle, I choose what I wanna play.Originally Posted by Shas'o Tau Dev'n Kauyon
