Loads of money, nothing to spend it on. I COULD expand and make a 2000 point necron army from my 1200 point Necrons currently, but I'd rather get another one. Something with more variations. Lots of fun Conversions, Mobs'd be hella fun. Currently I'm looking at: DE, SM, 'nids, and Orks. DE for that side of me to screw with the opponent non stop, SM for cusomizational purposes, 'nids to waste all my money, waste all my time painting, then waste the opponent in CC, and Orks cause they're so damn awesome! =D
Well, my two armies are Nids and Necron. Having two such diametrically opposed armies (Nids, uber in CC, lacking in shooting. Necrons, uber in shooting, lacking in CC) really makes me appreciate their individual tactics better. In fact, when I started collecting Necrons, I would build lists and then immediatly see ways my Nids could take them out (or any CC army really), and I'd adjust accordingly. Same went for the Nid lists I would build.
Gyauayuayuayua! Ja! Ve vill crush da little girly men in deir little girl men awrmor! Ve vill see owur enemies driven befowur us, und hear da lahmentaytions of deir wemen. -Arnoldunit Schwarzenecronegger; when questioned about the impending doom he would rain down upon the heads of his doomed enemies.
Go for dark eldar as they are one of the least played armies and pretty nasty in cc.

Chaos was on my first list of playing when I was first researching the game. These are all second choices, as I've already gotten it rock solid in my brain to get a Thousand Sons army when I can paint. They will be my grand army, just look hard to paint. When I get better at painting, I'll probably be going into Tzeench.
Dark Eldar are immensley difficult to play, and most of their models look like ass. Or you could call them "conversion opportunities" but I don't.
SM are surely easy to convert and paint, but ask yourself if you really want such a streamlined and potentially boring army. (You already play Necrons after all, another MEQ)
Orks are pretty good; they are easy to convert and you can convert about everything. Their lists are not too strong though, you need to max them in order to stand a chance usually.
I suggest Chaos, nothing stops you from getting another, different Chaos army later on since they can be varied into infinity. Almost.
