Ok, I need some advice from all of you. I'm still fairly new to playing 40k. I just moved into this area and managed to find some guys to play 40k with (brothers). They decided against doing a 3-way battle because they thought they might inadvertantly end up ganging up on me (since we don't know each other very well yet) ... so it will be a 2v1 game at 3000 points (1500 for each of them and 3000 for me). From what I gathered they have never played against Daemonhunters. I have a pure GK army (well, an inquisitor too). They are using Blood Angels and "Colonel Schaeffers" IG (one guy said he's trying a new army with this special). Ok, I know very little about either of these armies and what they can do. I also don't really have a clue as to what is likely to be in their forces. So, I'll give my list idea so far and then hope some of you can help me tweak it to better handle these forces and hopefully also get some ideas as to what to expect from them ...
GK Grandmaster w/mastercrafted NFW, Incinerator, Holocaust power, teleport homer
retinue: 2 GK terminators w/thunderhammers & storm shields, 1 GK terminator w/incinerator. Retinue also has holocaust power.
Inquisitor Lord w/psycannon, Hammerhand power, articifer armor, refractor field, psychic hood
retinue: 3 gun servitors (2 w/heavy bolters, 1 w/plasma cannon), 2 Sages, Mystic, 2 Acolytes w/plasma pistols
5 man GK terminator squad, one with psycannon, brother-captain w/teleport homer, and holocaust power for squad.
3x Troops of 7 man GK squads. (Justicar, 5xregular, 1 w/psycannon) Justicars carry auspexes, melta bombs, teleport homers, and refractor fields.
2x Fast attack 6 man GK squads (justicar, 5xregular). Justicars carry melta-bombs, teleport homers, refractor fields.
GK Land Raider w/extra armor, Pintle storm bolter

Lance Strike orbital strike
Notes: The points are close to 3000. I originally had a dreadnought instead of the Orbital strike, but have since decided that if they have not seen a DH army in action before I would show them what an orbital strike can do. Besides, with 3000 points of stuff on the board it should be able to hit a couple times, even deviating. I was also tempted to give the 2 acolytes articifer armor instead of plasma pistols, but thought the SM hitting power (at least at close range) would be better used rather than using the 2+ save since I hope to keep them in cover.
The scenario will be randomly rolled when we get together, so no way to plan ahead really in one direction, so need a fairly flexible list. I figure the two land raiders should be able to sit back and provide anti-vehicle support pretty well, while the orbital strike pounds away at their side of the board. The Inquisitor, of course, will sit in some cover and keep shooting as much as possible. The GK troop squads will either sit back and defend or advance depending on the scenario. The 2 terminator squads and the 2 Fast attack squads will deep strike in wherever is most useful. By giving them all teleport homers, as long as one touches down where I like I can then pile more units into that same area.
So... now I just need input from you all. What do you like/dislike about my list? What would you change?
Also, what types of troops can I expect from my opponent and any tricks/tactics that they might pull out? It's a friendly game, but I would like to put on a good showing since this is the first time they have seen DH played and also the first time that we have played a game together.
Oh, and this is using all my available models except a GK dreadnought. These guys said it is fine for me to borrow stand-in models, but I want to borrow as few as possible, which is why the list has a few miscellaneous item purchases in excess (teleport homers, for example, or the mastercrafted NFW) Still, recommendations are asked for as I should be able to borrow models (like I'm thinking I want more Troops, so will need to borrow stand-ins)
Thanks in advance to all that reply!
do u have any info on wat ur opponets have?...
Well, I know that one will have Blood Angels... but nothing specific about what types of units.
The other is using "Colonel Schaeffer's" IG. I don't know anything about that except he said taking the Colonel uses up like an HQ and Elite slot or something. My wife (who works with this guy) said he was also planning on taking lots of "Melting things", which I assume translates into Melta Guns.
Unfortunately, I didn't really ask for specifics. It seemed a little uncool to ask and then tailor my army to fight it.
well, ok, it seems like a fair fight, cause 1500ptsx2 equals to ur army pts, but it depends wat they have. But you have pretty nice stuff in your army, if u want to go into CC, where youll be most affective, deep strike in or use ur land raiders. If u want to stay back and defend. Keep heavy support behind everything, and just stand your ground untill you feel like you have to go into CC. Your army is fine as it is unless you want to tweak it a bit. And you should get another squad of grey knights because you need 2 troops, you only have 1 troop squad and 1 fast attack......Your enemys will try to attack your most valuable units, like your tanks, vindicare, hq, terminators. Or flank you from the side, which always killed me when i did 2v1. If you have any incinerators, put them where your going to go into CC. They are very affective. If they have like rhinos, chimeras, dreadnaughts, stuff like that, go for the infantry first unless you have to kill those weak armoured stuff, if they have like land raiders, leman russ, stuff like that, kill those first if u can. It is most likely they wont move there far ranged units. Be smart about your orbital strike, about where you place it and which u pick, Melta-Torpedo is good best for vehicles and pretty darn good for infantry. But the Lance Strike can kill infantry in an instant, and can hurt vehicles to, not as much as melta thou. Let your vindicare kill the important dudes, o ya, wat my friend did is buy all the assassins and he picked certain ones for diffrent races hes fighting and the scenario. well thats all i could think of right now, hope it does you some good!
I think its pretty good. I never fought IG but for the space marines keep an eye on those tankies, you have no idea how affective they can be, and remember, your heavy support is one of the only things that will win you the game. DH Have crappy tank-killing stuffs. But your pretty mutch covered even though LRs are HUGE targets. Good job!
