I have decided that I want to use a "different" Guard army. Different, as in less men, more tanks, and Assaul ready, all in 1000 points. So if you like it, hate it, find any mistakes or just feel like saying something, please do. Note: My most played against enemies are Tau, Kroot, and Dark Eldar. I think this will work good against these armies. So here goes...
Doctrines: Grenadiers, Ogryns, Sharpshooters
Command Section, led by Heroic Senior Officer.
Heroic Senior Officer - Power Fist and Plasma Pistol.
Two Guardsmen - Meltaguns.
One Veteran Guardsman - Medic.
One Guardsman - Chainsword and Laspistol.
Squad Doctrine: Sharpshooters. (141)
Ogryn Squad: 5 Ogryns, One upgraded to Bone 'Ead.
Mounted in Chimera: Multilaser, Heavy Flamer, Heavy Stubber. (232)
Grenadier Squad: 5 Stormtroopers.
One Stormtrooper - Plasma Gun.
One Stormtrooper - Grenade Launcher.
Sergeant and other Two Stormtroopers - Hellguns. (6
Grenadier Squad: 5 Stormtroopers, led by Stormtrooper Veteran Sergeant.
Veteran Sergeant - Power Weapon, Honorifica Imperialis.
Four Stormtroopers - Hellguns. (86)
Leman Russ Battle Tank: Battle Cannon, Lascannon, Heavy Bolters. (165)
Leman Russ Demolisher: Demolisher Cannon, Lascannon, Plasma Cannons. (185)
Basilisk: Earthshaker Cannon, Heavy Bolter, Indirect Fire. (125)
1002 Points total.
Jeez, it looks great except that you are REALLY low on men. One good shooting phase and you could lose a very large chuck of your army.
Anyway good luck!
IG since '95.
Indeed, but the chunk he loses won't matter because it won't be his tanks. The armies this one will face will likely have a great deal of trouble taking down any of these three before lots of big holes get shot in their ranks. Especially if I'm dumb and put an Ion Cannon on my Hammerhead. I mean... This list seems to be good at just about everything, except mobility, which you may not need much of. It almost seems like a movement toward an Armoured Company. But it also seems like it's difficult to beat and difficult not to destroy at least some of.
Perhaps his tanks would survive but that is really based upon who he/she is playing and under what circumstance. Personally, i would take alot of anti-tank weapons against the IG, especially if i was playing as a Tau force. However, i would imagine that a radical change such as this would cause some havok regarding his regular opponents army lists if they have becomne accustomed to large amounts of infantry. Wild changes can be fun.
I still believe, Liek, is low on numbers. Only a fool has a small number of anti-tank wepaons vs the IG in 1000 points.
IG since '95.
The plan vs. Anti-tank weapons is to screen the tanks with the Chimera, and to only allow opponents to shoot at the front armor (obviously.) I think I'll try to add a Sentinel or two to screen out my tanks even more.
