BUT ORKS REIN SUPREME IN CC!!!!!! 4 ATACKS on a basic trooper, fast transports. 30 orks to a mob!
it adds up to 120 atackes on the charge!

i think we have to take in account IF they can actually survive to make it into combat
khorne berserkers have quite a chance, but their blood rage sometimes makes them attack the wrong things..(ie a DREADNOUGHT o.O)
wyches....shoot them and they are dead
wulfen have quite a chance of surviving into combat...but again their animal rage can lead them to trouble (like berserkers)
boyz....they have to pass their WAAGH! test to double initiative...and theres no telling that if the choppas can actually kill anything in combat (4+ is still a good save by the way) and they get shot to death
blood angels: these guys imo, ARE F*CKIN OVERPOWERED +1 I +1 S in a charge?
so...all the combat units are good in their way in some way
if it is nids vers orks i would say orks just because they can cause a little tank shock
my archon eats khorne beserkers for breakfast...especially since she captured 15 beserkers in a game i played against them a few days ago...man it was so funny...
my HQ raider was shot down, so he charged em with a 10 man beserker squad, and i killed 8 of em before he even got to swing back...so then next turn, he charged em with 2 more beserker squads, and two turns later, all 30 beserkers were dead! with only 2 of my incubi dead...props to drazhar *you rock my world*
K I have to say my answer was wrong before, because each CC army can deal with diffrent things like orcs can deal with nids pretty well if they have the right support units while Nids can take out SW if they have the right stuuf as well, it all depends on what you have in your army if you know what I mean. and you can't just say my Lord can take out your Tyrant because maybe it can't maybe you roll really dang crappy and he fails every save he has, I geuss your lord did not take out his tyrant now did he?
OK fine what beats this in CC for the pts?
10 Rending Rippers = 160pts. 30 Rending Attacks, 40 when charging and 30 wounds.
i dunno, but thats if they get close to me... lol
id say the best overall assault oriented army is the ggod ole space wolves. because, they have insanly awsome HQ's(although expensive), and very good elites(wolf scouts poppin behind you and destroying all your heavy) and very good normal troops. also great fast and suprisingly good heavy. those split firing long fangs are excellent.
so what we have here is an excellent assault army that is also good at shooting. a winning comb? i say yes :w but i may be biased...

Apart from the strength 4, 5 if he's lucky. In my last game it took an Archon, five Incubi and an Incubi Master 5 turns to take out 8 Plague Marines, and between them the Incubi and their Master only killed one.Originally posted by Pandora@Feb 5 2004, 15:52
Best assualt unit? The Archon, with Shadowfield, Punisher, Tormenter Helm, Drugs and a Bike. Bam, your stupid Wulfen die, ALL of them. Same with your Blood Marines. Blood for the blood god my ass, one slim little guy wracks death amongst all of them.
I still say nids are the best HtH army as that is what they're made for, some other armies have models which are better than most nid units in cc but thats only one squad, most nid units are made for assualt. Most nid weaponary is so short ranged that they seem to suggest assualt, and fluff wise the nature of tyranids is to attack, there is none or little accounts of tyranids having to defend something as they are very aggressive creatures moving to world to world never staying in one place so it is there nature to assault, making them the most and best assault orrientated army.

I have seen an all wulfen army do nasty things - they are so fast...
and mean when they get into combat -
you'll get one, maybe two turns of shooting and the rest of your game is CC
