Hey i noticed tyranids arent in that list !!!
Id say go with necrons dont have them but played them several times and they rule!
but it all depends on your style of fighting wanna blast the living hell outa the troops from a distance or get up close n personal n rip em apart with your bare hands. Youve gotta remember all armies have strengths n weaknesses youve jus got to play around wiv these. Space marines are what most ppl get wen they first start playin (or supposed to anyway) as they are dead simple to play but have no significant adantages or disadvantages... what i mean is they are above average in evry field, except numbers.

I would say go with SM. For one everything they have is in plastics, so you won't be dishing out alot of money initially. Also they are very resielent, and offer you a good force to start with, and eventially master into an unbeatible army. I myself am starting a SM army ( or maybe Chaos ), after playing Eldar, Necrons and Imperial Guard.
I really wouldn't suggest playing Necrons. Yes they are a good army ( on the table ), but they have little to no options and as a gamer I got bored of them real fast. In fact right now I use them as an extra army for a friend to join in the gaming. You don't have much in the way of tactics, as your guys are to expensive. You don't really change your army up for any race or mission. The lack of any heavy / special weapons in squads ( like tac squads, guardians ect. ) just sucks because there is basically gonna be little converting in your army. Theres also little veriety in unit types. Plus the fact that there army is so easy to paint..I think my converted lord took about a day...the rest of my army maybe a week. I've been painting my IG for about 2 months now, and im still not done my GK's for them, or individual detail on lasgun guardsmen.
High Elves (BloodBowl)
Warseer Blood Bowl League
Yea.. Don't do Necron's...
I was gonna do a 10k army of them...
But I got sick of painting 'em after the second guy..
Mainley because they are REALLY easy.
And after you've made a paint scheme..
THat's the ONLY way you paint them...
Because all there guys are the same paint wise...
So go for another army...

Space Marines are good, but I dont think 40k needs another one. Space Marines vs Space Marines makes it a dull game. You basically have the same stats, strengths, and weaknesses. Sence most of the players have space marines, its nice to have more divesity. Just go to Gamesworkshop and if they are not having a game or are not bussy , ask NICELY(please and thank you, I am starting an army and i have no idea how to play.), if you could play a 500 point intro game.
Btw slicer, i like your red terror picture, looks very scary.
yes thats a good idea go to Games Workshop and ask if you can play a intro game almost all GW's I have been to will let you do that (They are very nice) and ask if you can be one of the armies in your list and if they have any painted and assemebled they usually let you play that army.
Yeah they are nice people, and they want you to spend 200 bucks on an army. <_<
Just ask them what army you want to play and they would be happy to do it. I would recomend going to Gamesworkshop on a Wensday or Sunday. In my Gamesworkshop, i dont think there is something of Wensday so you wouldnt be interupting, and on Sunday they have 40k into battles.
I don't know if its the same for all GW's but they have something every night usually just go in around 3-4 and usually its a slow time so they will welcome to have something to do LOL or you can go in on the intro night where they have lessons for painting and free games and such and if you only spent $200 on your armies I don't like you I must have spent well over $1000 dollars on my nids although I do have alot of nids lost strack after 200 models.
How many nids do you have altogether? 1000 American Dollars? Wow, 64 gaunts=120 bucks. 124=240 bucks. Plus all the other stuff i would think that you would spend 500-700 dollars at most. Anyway your crazy.
Wow... How on earth did you spend that much money for 200 model's?
I was gonna spend 2000 odd.. On Necron's for a 10k point army.
With.... I think it was like 800 or so model's. (360 warriors...)
But... Wow... 1k for 200... Ouch..

you have to remember I live in Canada EH? and everything is very expensive here a box of gaunts is like 40 bucks a tyrant is 50 bucks and I have much more than 200 models I just stopped counting there I figure I have maybe 400 models I have like an entire wall devoted to holding my nids up in place I think I can make a maximum of 20K if I tried but I have never made a list of more than 2000 no one else that I know of has more than that.
