Looking at the different army lists that are posted on the forums, I was wondering at what point-limit do you guys usually play?
Here in Italy (at least in Genoa) the official tourneys are at 1500pts, so gamers usually stick to that amount... what about other places?
- Just love that maki! -
Our standard tourney size in the US is 1850, so that's what we tend to play at even from friendly games. I think in 40k certain armies really suffer below 1500.
The largest 1-on-1 I've played so far is 3500 (using my marines) and I'd like to try some larger ones with my eldar too, as a whole new dynamic opens up when you pass around 2750.
With a lot of armies, the hordes are SOOOO huge it's terrifying to fight, with others the amount of firepower they can generate is just staggering.
I'm REALLY looking forward to Codex: Apocalypse for this reason.
Baby, when I'm the voice of reason, we've got problems!~artificerSomeone should stop

My friends play a lot of 1500's. 1500 is a nice round looking number. Allows some of the guys with smaller armies to field something more competitive without needing to have more figures. The shift between 1500 and 2000 though offers a lot of opportunities and can really change certain armies.
1500 points for me, though I've been lucky lately, and people are warming up to the idea of larger games.
1500 is pretty standard. It doesn't take too long to play, and still means you don't have a free reign over what you have in your army - Once you approach 2000pts you begin to "have it all".

I prefer larger games. 1750, 1850 or 2k are all good. 1000 is interesting because we all have to hamstring our armies to fit into the points (and because I use 2 falcons in it  ).
I just don't really like 1500, thats the point when listhammer is everything. At smaller games you don't have the points to be to cheesy due to 2 troops and a HQ. At larger games your opponents have enough to deal with anything.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
Personally i think that 1000 points is great its quick fun and usally means i can fit about 3 games and a few movies in one night so me and my mates and the people at my GW also play 1000 alot so yer its all good. But 1500 point games are also alot of fun.

The standard in my area is 1850, just like the US GT, but that's not hard and fast.
On several occasions, I've played a 3000 pt game against my bro, and that was great fun. We also have 1500pt games, but not always.
I like any point value game, because I can still make something very characterful for my army most of the time, and it works fairly well.
I even took Deathwing Terminators in a 750pt list.
