sorry for posting this kind of thread. i am sure there have been countless like it before. but i can't seem to decide on which army i want to play. i have narrowed it down to picking between three armies. i have looked around and have found lots of information about all of them. the problem is i found to much. it is a little overwhelming. so i would really appreciate it if i could get some people to summarize each of the armies for me. tell me the pros and the cons and stuff, the things i need to know. thanks in advance and here are the three armies:
I am making the assumption that you are new to 40k and don't have a previous army.
Tau are difficult to play and not usually reccommended for new players as their tactics are so radically different from the norm. They also tend to annoy their opponents with their victory point denial tactics.
Chaos is huge. So many different armies in one. You can't just decide chaos you have to choose a legion. Black Legion is closer to Space Marines than World Eaters etc. Chaos is generally easier to play with as khorne and black legion tend to be straightforward. They also provide a lot of variety for new timers so that you can customise it to how you want. It is also very easy and fun to write fluff behind your army.
Tyranids are similar to chaos in that they will let you build your army how you want. They aren't to hard to play and you and your opponent will usually have fun in games with them. Tyranids are rarely labelled cheese and don't rely on tactics that upset opponents so they are good. They also have a lot of plastic so are nice and cheap and easy to convert.
Overall I would recommend chaos. MEQ's are good for new players and it quickly introduces you to ALL aspects of 40k. Plus you get to serve under Caluin and that's always a plus.
And chaos gets a new codex relatively soon.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
