Hey, I could use some direction on where to go from where I am now. I have 3 crisis suits, 12 fire warriors, 16 kroot, and a Stealth team with a leader. I'm trying to get ready to play, I've heard tottaly different tau strategy. Some kids get as many as 48 fire warriors, but some have suggested that I just stick with 12 because they are very weak. I've heard nothing but negative comments about the kroot. Every army list I've seen doesn't include a devilfish or pathfinders. All armies I've seen have included at leat one hammerhead. I'm still learning the special rule for boardsides, but the $30.00 price tag makes them very unappealing. At the local store they play with 1000 point armies, please offer your personal opinion in which direction you believe this army should be headed in.
Fire Warriors are the best thing that the Tau have. High strength guns, long range, and a 4+ save. They suck at fighting and aren't very good at shooting, but still get the job done better than anything else the Tau have.
And Kroot are awesome. Don't disrespect or underestimate the Kroot. They are the only thing that Tau have that can consistantly fight assaults.
Skip the Broadsides. They are expensive ($ for someone that is just starting.
get kroot and crises's they are good. Also get some rail rifle path finders and pathfinders
alright thanks. So right now I'm thinking to make a useable army I should get 1 kroot regiment, 2 more fire warriors and 3 more crisis suits.
kroot are nice and especially fire warriors but why not pathfinders or kor'vesa(drones)? they both have guns that pin and drones can deep strike.
well I will get 4 more gun drones with my fire warriors on top of the 9 that I already have. Plus my crisis suits each come with one. I alos heard that pathfinders are only effective with a devilfish.
Dude to start out you prolly just want the starter set it'll have every thing you need....
