I am planning on making an army with a steampunk sort of theme. I was wondering if people could post links or pictures so I can get some ideas. Also, whoch army do you think would best fit this theme?
if you don't want a lot of conversions, I'd go with Praetorian Imperial Guard (they're British Imperial uniform anyhow.) maybe ally in the WitchHunter Inquisitor with the wide brimmed hat, and his retinue. I'd think with servitors, you could steam-punk them up nice.
steampunk is a fairly broad category. If you're shooting for something Red Star'esque, i'd go with Vostoyan Imperial Guard. Great uniforms, and a lot of their weapons are held together with straps and rivets like you see in most steampunk movies.
also, make sure to get a lot of wire to simulate all the copper piping used to power your steam-powered vehicles, and bend it so they are all following the same paths.
I'd also take a look at privateer press's Warmachines models for inspiration, as their entire world is steampunk based.
There is a guy who has a fantastic SteamPunk SM-army.
Any ideas on armies a bit far from the mainstream is often discussed in the Order of the Shadowy Flame, you'll find them among the Clans. Great tips and advice is given and gladly recieved there.
I think Orks fit the bill perfectly. Cyborks, unreliable rocket packs, wrapping yourself in scrap metal as armour, killa kans, dreadnoughts, large artillery pieces that are nearly as dangerous to stand behind as in front of... you see my point.
Toss in the fact that Ork equipment is bulky, loud, and dangerously unreliable, and you've pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Orcs would be good, but I'd go with hunters, for penitant engines, arcoflaggalents, inquisitors, sister of battle could look quite steampunk too
