With the additions of the whichhunters and alien hunters it seems GW is devaluing the other human armies and every other established army.
I think everyone would agree that once you play a few battles of one on one, the true fun begins when you develop your unique army and get envolved with story lines, campaigns, etc. I used to have grey knights in my SM army years ago, and thought they were the greatest spec ops force to add but now question if it was a good thing to create a DH army, which I play.
Daemonhunters: I think overall Grey Knights have lost their unique character and presence. And the fluff starts to get very thin when you argue why a DH force would battle IG, etc.
Alien Hunter: now this is really bad. Unless they have defined aliens differently isn't this include everything. I know they'll make unique distinctions, but again, why? This might be the final blow to the unique advantages of alien armies.
Whichhunters: seriously? This is a complete departure from 40K. The models are cool, but again should be a special unit. Proof the same minds developing warhammer are developing warhammer 40k. I know there are parallels, but this is stupid. Enough said.
I think GW is doing what players should be doing, developing unique and creative armies. But if GW does it, then why should a player invest their hard earned money to buy a box. GW should be investing their time in creating new models with uniqe abilites for every army to keep their product fresh. Allow players to take whatever army they have and go down their unique path based on a solid army foundation, great fluff and new models to add.
Sorry about the long post, I love the game, but don't want it to destroy itself, by hurting the ones that support it. Am I blowing this out of proportion?
The new witch hunters codex is the first update the sisters of battle will have to the army list they have had for a long time. I wan't to see my sisters of battle made into a more playable army, but making them part of the inquisition takes away their identity. Now instead of Sisters of Battle, they are Witch hunters. We used to stand alone, and be very fluffy with our multiple Convents, each having slightly different Dogma to preach and insure that Humanity is taking the right path. Now all we do is hunt witches mutants and heretics.
Two battle sisters are sitting inside a Rhino waiting for deployment.
SISTER CATHRINE: so (beat) we are hunting another witch this time?
SISTER ATHMEM: seems that way.
SISTER CATHRINE: geeze, again with the witches. The last one was all alone, had no worshipers, and was so deformed im not sure if it could feed itself even if the food was right infront of it. It was a vegitable.
SISTER ATHMEM: yeah, even when we face the huge sprawling cults its no fun. No matter how many ties they have to corrupt planetary officials, no matter how often Sister Superior Gwen tells us "you cant trust any one on this world, for they may all have sworn allegance to the witch", its just boring. Are you still stamping a ][ on your bolter for each witch we have killed?
SISTER CATHRINE: yeah, check it out! (hits the magazine release on her bolter, and hands the gun to Sister Athmem) I almost have 40 on there!
SISTER ATHMEM: (looks over the bolter) yeah, I wish we could go up against Tyranids for once, or maybe eldar. I havent gotten a chance to shoot at those stuck up aliens in a while. And when was the last time we fought a Greater deamon? almost never.
Alien hunters? (Sorry....)
lol... I like the sisters of battle thingey.
O & G: 5/0/1
Not sure of Witch hunters...but with Ordo Xenos..I think they should add a few rules and an inquisitor to make it more fluffy..but the fluff is trashed as soon as you have army of deathwatch.. Death watch are a few specially selected marines set into a squad to kill Aliens when the time is right, they are called by an inquisitor and often fight along IG and SM..Pure DW isn't fluffy..it's cool and I'll still anticipate it..but it's just not right.
Edit: witch hunters should be in Inquisitor....that's all
I was upset when I saw models for Inquisitors. Now everybody has an Inquisitor that looks way too similar to eaverbody elses. Before Daemonhunters in this edition, every Inquisitor looked different because people had to convert from scratch. And they all looked awesome. Now, the Inquisition has no identity in 40K because it has become so uniform.
GW isn't counting on YOUR hard earned money.
As the years go by, they cater more and more to the kiddy crowd. Little Tommy and Jonny and Timmy who just want the cheesiest armies out there and equate how mature they are with how good they are at beating people with their blood angels or Teh Uber army flavor of the month. Most of the fluff is rediculous anyways, and painful to read. Look in any codex, and any fluff they include is mostly OMG, THIS ARMY IS l33T! BUYBUYBUY.
yeah I'm sick of the fact that the "personal" touch is being lost, lost in uniform inquisitors, similiar armies and crap fluff...
this is a bit off the topic, but have you noticed how every chaos short story in white dwarf is the same:
leman russ that can't hit a thing....check.
Apathy is the greatest enemy of all.
I know its kinda odd don't you think? Not all of the chaos space marines are invincible though in the stories, there was one a while ago when a chaos lord was shot in the leg with a lasgun, fell over, and missed getting hit by a krak missile <_<
What doesn't kill you, cripples you for life
Whoever invented the Rubix Cube had a sick and twisted sense of humor
I will not eat oysters, i want my food dead, not sick, not wounded, dead.
isnt Ordo Xenos next?
So how does GW still add new product and value to the world of 40k without damaging the fluff of exisitng armies?
