I've been working on some fluff for my DH army & i was just wondering if you oh so knowledgable lords of thy fluff could let me know if i have obvoiusly gone against any important previous fluff & so on....
So far my idea is as follows:
At the height of the Horus Heresey, the emperor called on all the loyal chapters to give into his service there 10 elitest men. the purpose of this was that he was creating an uber 'hit squad' in the hope of taking out Horus or atleast slowing down his advance towards terra until the larger force of SM arrived. This united force was led by one Brother Lucius who was a veteran of many campaigns led by the emperor himself.
However, the units plan was destroyed by a traitor lured by Tzeentch to Chaos who gave away there route so the were cut down to the last 30 or so men before the Eldar intervened (seeing a great use for Lucius & his survivors in there campaign against Chaos). Horus & co. then went on to terra etc etc wounding the emperor before he was finally destroyed.
Lucius returned to Terra, having to bare the shame & humiliation of not only surviving his loss to only see the emperor in his state, but also for having been spared a more noble fate at the hands of the wretched eldar. No-one knows what went on durng the 'pychic' meeting between the fallen SM & the emperor but it is believed that the emperor set him on a path of redemption for him & his surviving bretheren- to do all in their power to destroy Chaos in all its forms & manifestations.
& so was born- Lucius & his Foresaken. Travelling the known universe in there "black" ship, arriving on tainted planets only to dissappear, leaving a wasteland of destruction in their wake.
So thats my "idea" to start with. i know theres obvious holes etc so please dont be to harsh in critiquing it though any constructive help is much appreciated.
p.s. i know this isnt strictly Ordo Malleus but i figured for all intents & purposes that it really has the same purpose &has evolved as such over the millenia- just without inquisitors... (cept for maybe those Inquisitors/Higher people of Terra who are privy to the deepest darkest secrets of the Marines) & they have a very potent hate for all things eldar.
p.p.s. as far as an explanation for inducting IG, i've been thinking of cases where whole companies of guardsmen just vanish from battlefields & are repoted as dead when in fact they have been 'abducted' (for want of a better word) by Lucius & co. & 'brainwashed' for a single mission, then left to die etc after. Or perhaps the sole =][= of the ship 'borrows' them (if i decide to include Inq.)
sorry about the long post,
If I'm reading this right, you want to use GK rules, but have the army with a chaos theme. That sounds legit to me. Another possibility is to download the lost and damned codex off GW and combine a Tzeentch army with that.
Just an FYI:
It says in the fluff specifically that there has never been a case of a fallen Grey Knight. They are too closely bound to the Emperor's own DNA to be corrupted. (Hence the reason they can go hunt Daemons their whole lives.)
Hmmm i get what your saying. These are pre horus heresy...(or rather during) Horus Heresy grey Knights (which didnt exist at this time) but you want them to be the elitest of the Space marines and adept at killing chaos, so your gonna use GK models and rules. that sounds perfectly acceptable to me. I ecspecially enjoy the idea of abducted guardsmen forced to join the legion or rather "chosen". Brother Lucius: "Hmm..getting rather low on meat bags to throw in front of those demons.." and then just picks up some guards for super secrect mission wooooo.
yeah, i realised the whole "never fallen to chaos" idea in the codex which is why i chose to base the fluff during the heresey (ie pre-GK) with the idea that the emperor saw how vigilante & effective Lucius & his Foresaken were & decided to found a whole chapter with this ideology- & wala- the GK where formed
But all-in-all they are good (so unfortunately the L&D/Tzeentch idea dosent fit), they're jst not as well mannered & restrained as the Ordo Malleus, willing to do everything & anything in seeking redemption for their past.
AlbinoAlien: yeah, i was thinking their ship could have like 1000's of stasis pods (think the human fields in The Matrix Trilogy ) containing there "borrowed/abducted" meat shields. & i'm thinking of making my GK Hero- GrandMaster Lucius- after 10 000 years of burning & razing chaos, he's come very very adept at swinging a NFW!!
Note: "Forsaken" has but one E.
Also, you may want to rethink the name Lucius, because while it's a great character name, it's also taken by the head Champion of Slaanesh, Lucius the Eternal. There's a whole host of Roman names to choose from though, I'd just recommend you avoid that in order to avoid confusion.
As long as you've got it down pat that what you have are not fallen Grey Knights, as such a thing is ontologically impossible, this is fine. Although the sudden and inexplicable Eldar aid is a little iffy, but I guess they are Eldar. Their ways are fickle and such.

Come, sons of LO! Kneel before Poodle!
Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."
ze_poodle: yeah, i realised that the name was some what taken (as my bro plays Emperors Children) but i like the name- Grand Master Lucius just has a nice ring to it IMO. Also, yeah, they're not so much fallen (bad choice of words, i know) as they are trying to seek redemption. btw cheers on the spelling
Lol & about the eldar- i decided, with their "view into the future" & all, that they (Eldrad perhaps??) foresore (2 e's?) how 'helpful' Lucius & the surviving SM would be in eradicating chaos threats over the next millenia to further their own plans. That & it would help get around the whole 'success or death' mantra the SM have- it explains how they would have been defeated & still be alive to return to Terra.
You know, i mean you could even use tzeenecth models/rules. It's still your fluff, the chapter could just have been altered through its millenia of fighting chaos. And remember, if your gonna have someone who was THERE and SAW and SPOKE to the emporer.....think about having him a mute, or else thats gonna cause some cross fluff controversy when your guy says/thinks "ooo i remember when the emporer did that! hahahaha lol what a funny guy!"
