xD no. What about a Space marine chapter that gave itself over to the mechanicus, so they are now praetorians (praetorians= AM playthings right?)

Hmmmm... Following that idea how about this:

HQ
Tech marine (High Tech Priest)
Commander
Full Servo Harness
Terminator Honours
Iron Halo 25
Bionics 5
Master Crafted Power Weapon 15

Inquisitor Lord ( Magos) *note* I think that’s the term
Psycannon *Mars Pattern Heavy Bolter*
3 Warrior Henchmen (Servitors)
2 Heavy Bolters
Plasma Cannon
2 Sages (Analysts/Lexmechanics)
190
*Note*
I could also take Karamazov (huge machine-thing), but I don’t know if he is legal unless it’s a *Pure* witch hunters army.

Elites
5 Terminators (these are my big mechanical humanoids I’m going to convert, that used to be terminators, following my new fluff idea)
2 Assault Cannons
240

Eversor Assassin (electro Priest)

8 Devastators (Praetorians)
Missile Launcher
3 Lascannons
Tank Hunters 24
239

Troops
5 Grey Knights (Experimental Stealth Close Support Troops)
2 Psycannons *Mars Patter Heavy Bolters*
180

10 Space Marines (Unchanged) 150
Lascannon 15
Terminator Honours
180

5 Scouts (New recruits)
4 Sniper Rifles
Missile Launcher
95

Heavy Support
9 Devastators (Praetorians)
4 Plasma Cannons

8 Devastators (same as above)
4 Heavy Bolters
180

Vindicator
Power of the Machine Spirit
155

1999

fluff wise it is not likely, SM chapters, geneseede etc are not subservient to AM,

Hmmm....

Well i could perhaps convert the models, as i really want an AM army =(.

But i dont wanna use guard, what rules set would be the best for praetorians? (if i remember right they are the *Guinea pigs* of the AM, so i think S4T4 may be appropriate.

From what I know Praetorians are elite AM servitors who are constructed from the body of an mind scrubbed Ogryn or vat-grown giant. I've always thought that if they did a AM codfex it would be cool for praeotirans to be counted as monstrous creatures, able to take lascannons, heavy bolters, etc

Praetorians are just larger, more mechanically enhanced versions of regular Skitarii. Using Space Marines to represent them is perfectly fine, since they share many traits - the enhanced BS could be neural-linked weapons and targeting systems, the 3+ and S4 is heavy skin-bonded armour plating and artificial muscle, and the T4 is from the sturdiness of the Praetorian's chassis (they're sometimes represented as being wheeled or tracked, like man-sized tanks.)

Praetorian's aren't specifically Ogryn servitors (I can see no need for that, since Ogryn intelligence is quite within manipulatory boundaries and doesn't need reducing further) but they possibly could be. Perhaps your Terminators could fill this role.

Space Marines becoming servitors is an insult to Space Marines. An Astartes' intelligence and battlefield creativity is his greatest asset, since it allows him the advantage when outnumbered or surrounded - common situations for such rare soldiers. To lobotomise a Marine with the intent of increasing obedience is self-defeating; the Marine is already unflinchingly loyal, more so than any Guardsman, and by taking away his intelligence you actually open him up to further failure as he may no longer understand how his implants work.

So drop the Marines becoming Servitors idea; you could have an independant Chapter that has strong ties with the AdMech, but no Chapter would abase itself so much as to become drones of a Techpriest. To be far simpler about it, you could just have an army of Praetorians. There is nothing wrong with that at all.

If you really want to run an adeptus mechanicus marine army, why not run something that represents the Mars recruits?

That is, whenever a newly recruited marine shows promise in working with machines, and understanding the machine spirit, he is sent to mars to train under the techpriests. When he returns to his chapter, he is a techpriest himself (a techmarine).

As marines, however, they would still have to continue their massive regime of training in bolter rites, rites of combat, prayer etc... So it would not be much of a leap of faith that at all times there would probably be at least most of a chapter's worth (or at least a couple of companies) of fighting capable marines (from all over the galaxy in origin) on mars at any given time, all training to become techmarines whilst still keeping up with their other skills, such as using jumppacks etc...

You could thus use the marine codex, take the traits that allow techpriests as HQ, and work the rest of your army around that! Maybe even the one that allows more than usual dreadnoughts.

You could even paint them all with red body armour, but retaining their chapter heraldry/shoulderpad, so you could have a dark angels techmarine wannabe in a squad alongside an imperial fist techmarine wannabe, and a salamanders sergeant etc...

Its an idea that I've heard other people talk about before, and supposedly it works fairly well.

Or you could do IG, although you dont really seem to want to...Can't see why, I must admit, i'm kinda proud of my skitarii army...although they would require a little more converting work than marines...

Just bear in mind that fluffwise Praetorians are about twice the size of a human being and seldom look human in the slightest. Ogryns would be a good starting point, but, if you really want to fit with the fluff, each one is going to be a little conversion nightmare.

Ogryn servitors exist, but they have another name (H-Grade combat servitor, or some such thing) a Praetorian is an elite assault servitor employed by the Adeptus Mechanicus.

As Poodle said, marine servitors are a bit silly, and severely violate Imperial codes of practice regarding marine command structures. If the mechanicus can directly command a bunch of space marines, it swings the balance of power, and suddenly the Administratum is going to want their scribemarines, the Ecclesiarchy is going to want their faithmarines, etc etc.

Seen the new ogryn head (the bionic one ^^).

Anyway, i was thinking of maybe using chaos marauders (theyre big humans) and cyborging them. I.e Gren stuffing perfectly smooth metal over 1/2 of the skin area, and suchlike. The only problem is where do i put the weapons?

To get me started im using this. (Combat Patrol)

HQ
Techmarine
Bionics
70

Troops
8 Space Marines
Plasma Gun
Heavy Bolter
135

6 Devastators
3 Plasma Cannons
195
