After reading the fluff that I created a while back for my Chapter the Shadow Dragons, I started thinking that there was something not quite right with it, that it didn't fully bring about how i want the chapter to be envisioned (is that how its spelt?).
Anyway after realising this i got to creating several new fluffs in order to try and find something that worked and finaly came up with this.
I'm sure there is something that could be improved on or something that i've put which would be impossible or would never happen, so critizise away, just please make sure that its constructive critisicm. Well hope you enjoy.
Every Chapter has its little secret, some small, some big, some insignificant and some so serious that they are hunted by those that they serve and protect. The Twighlight Dragons as we were, knew nothing of secrets for through the good grace of the Emperor we were blessed with a pure Gene-seed for which we took great pride in. However some things are never meant to last.
Our Homeworld of Draconis Prime was engulfed by a Warp Storm, and out of it came fleets of traitors and demons. Our entire Homeworld was to become a world of death and destruction. Though our entire Chapter was present, most had just returned from a fight against Orks in the defense of the Imperial world Caldanis and many where weary and injured and unable to fight. As such it was less a battle and more a slaughter, our Homeworld was lost and we knew it for no aid would come, even if we called for it.
Our Chapter Master back then, Koridin Maganus knew that Draconis Prime was lost and so called for a full scale retreat to the fleet of the Twighlight Dragons. We escaped the destruction of Draconis Prime, but with the sacrifice of our Homeworld along with millions of lives lost at the hands of Chaos, the Twighlight Dragons where never to be the same again.
Not long after the escape of our Homeworld ill fate was to fall upon us once again. Though the Warp Storm had abated briefly, allowing the fleet to escape the wrath of the Chaos forces laying waste to Draconis Prime, it was not long until yet another Warp Storm appeared, this time so sudden that not even the Astropaths sensed its coming until it was too late.
Trapped within the warp, the ships of our fleet, and the lives of those aboard slowly dwindled, as time and again creatures spawned of the Warp assailed the fleet, leaving nothing but blood and ruins behind. It was during this first attack that Koridin Maganus was slain. Yet in his dying breathes, he declared myself Drizkan Incarus the new Chapter Master.
But it was not just to be our physical being that was assailed, it was our minds as well. Whispers of seduction, promises of wealth and grandeur, visions of power, nightmares re-lived, all were subject to the temptations of the warp. Eventually, all but those aboard the Dragons Fury had either been destroyed or turned to Chaos.
Months after our being swallowed by the Warp, be it by the will of the Emperor or sheer luck, the Astropaths and Librarians were, as well as I can describe, able to "Rip" the Dragons Fury out of the Warp. Yet the Warp was to deal us a final blow before our escape, we became that which we had avoided for centuries. The Warp had forever mutated our bodies and our Gene-seed. We now resembled that which we had been named after.
Now a millennia had passed upon our escape from the Warp, our Homeworld no longer exists and there are only two things that drive us forwards, our honor and our hatred of all that dwell within the Warp. To protect mankind and to destroy Chaos in its entirety and for this purpose we became the Shadow Dragons, the protectors in the shadows and purges of Chaos.
Sorry if its a little hard to determine the paragraphs, for some reason it won't show the spaces i put in even after typing space 5 times

The fluff you have writen is creative and flexable. I would like to see more. The image of marines who look like dragons is an interesting one.

This should make for some great fluff, with great modeling and converting possibilities. How extensive is the mutation, could they hide it or are we talking two-legged dragons? I'm glad my post on the other thread helped you flesh some things out, and am excited to see where you go with it!
Well i never realy thought about doing any more fluff concerning them, as i just wanted to kind of get a background down for them to explain their situation, though if i can find some more insperation from somewhere then i suppose it might happen.
As to the extent of the mutations, it varies from Marine to Marine, as im not all to good at using green stuff for conversions, im trying to keep it to a minimum, some marines have just a few smaller mutations such as their flesh in certain places turning to scales, others like current commander i got have larger areas of mutation, such as large scale plates over certain areas of the body.
I'm also currently trying to think of a way to convert another commander to go with some assault marines, which if i can do it will probably be the most heavily converted model i've ever done, but thats for another section of the forum.
Well i'll see about getting a few pics of the two models i've currently got completed so as to show em off (might have to work on em a bit more first though)
Anyway thanks for the feedback, hopefuly looking forward to a bit more feedback, and am happy that i've got some positive feedback already, wasn't realy expectin any for a while.
So how many numbers are we lookin at? and armour vehicles, im sure they are in short supply. SOunds like a great fluff, something you could totally use to go anywhich way. And i really like how some of the chapter turned, so like you'll have these dragon dudes someday meet some chaos brethern and be like "woah, time to kill boss"
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
Still trying to work out some reaonable and probable numbers, after non-stop life and death situations, they probably wont be anywhere near full strength, so i'll play around with that a bit.
As for armour and stuff, i'll probably have to work a little on that too, but most likely there will be very little armour wise, and most of it being dreads (i like fielding dreads in games + for some reason no tanks :p)
Other than that, i think i might actualy start on some more fluff cause suprisingly, i think creating that first bit, not to create any more would kind of make me feel hollow inside.
So watch this space... or another space, hmm don't know whether to add more fluff onto this post or create a new thread for it, anyone help with that?
It's not a bad idea, although warp storms are used a bit too liberally; instead of making the Warp resurge after a temporary break, make it an all-or-nothing evacuation into a raging storm in the faintest hope that they'll make it out alive. More epic, anyway; maybe a bit more clichéd, but I like the sound of it.
Also, maybe define the characters and factions in the schism in the Warp a bit more; the personalities involved, what made some of them turn to Chaos, did any escape and so on. The conflict'll seem so much richer if it's given some more colour.
i think its great, i assume that other imperials arnt to friendly with them? i bet you could make an awesome chapter master figure.
How big is the ship that survived? most strike cruisers can carry up to one company where as a battle barge carrys up to 4 i think, dont forget to minus casulties from the journy! id say 2-3 companys of men left sounds good.
Please look in on my chapter fluff also, angels of vengence
PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.
~~ Surrender and serve me in life, or die and slave for me in death~~
Edited post as without indentations it was a little difficult to read.
Anyway as previously mentioned im still working on exactly how many survivers because even though i mentioned only the one ship escaping (the Dragons Fury) which i have stated in my plans when writing the fluff is a battle barge. (kicks self for forgetting to add that)
Also as mentioned there will be more fluff to come, though most of this is going to be used to fill in certain areas of the fluff that seem empty, such as the struggle through the warp which Xerxes mentioned, the factions and the individual characteristics and such.
I'm currently working on some fluff about the Homeworld Draconis Prime, which shouldn't be too much longer in the making, though i'm havin a few problems with it as it seems at times to be writen in both a third person and first person view. (What can i say, i'm an amateur writer)
As for conversions, i currently have one conversion which is going to be one of the Company masters though there is more to do on him, and i have ideas on how to do a conversion on the Chapter Master, though i just need to figure out a few things first. (Also an amateur at conversions lol)
I love the concept behind the army, very imaginative and complex to say the least, a force which has been corrupted by the Warp yet still hold loyalty to the Emperor, it seem like the Shadow Dragons are fighting a war on both sides, I can imagine that the Imperium isn't very keen on them neither Chaos. 9/10 for such a unique fluff. ;Y
