Hi, everyone down my local GW seems to play 40k these days so I'm going to build an army. (I have loads of fantasy ones, but no 40k)
Which is the simplest to learn ?
I suspect Space Marines are the most simple race, although if you are a fantasy player I can't see why you couldn't start any army. It's accually a bit more simple then fantasy is, so you should be good no matter what.

for simplelist 40k, i would say Space Marines. For fantasy, take your pick.
Franz Sigmar, it all depends on your playing style.
if you want a bit of everything (shooting, CC etc), go for the Space Marines.
but, every army in the 40k universe has a little place in everyone's playing style. you just need to find the one that suits you best, not the Hardest, Quickest and overral Unbeatable. that's just half the battle! do a little snooping around or ask us or the relevant forum Veterans your playing style, and/or what army appeals to you the most.
we're not forcing you, it's your hobby
If you've played Fantasy for a decent amount of time then 40K shouldn't give you any trouble. I'd say any army will work for you, 40K is more simple after all.

I'd pick the army you like the look and idea of.. Possibly staying away from Eldar and Tau, if anything, as they're the only armies which really incline themselves towards being complicated.
Almost any army can be set up to be easy to play.. With guard, just load up on the infantry and sit there blasting away.. With orks, load up on massed mobs and charge.. The most important thing in making an army simple is to keep it small and simple (perhaps play a few games of combat patrol.)
If you've played fantasy, anyway, you should be able to grasp 40k quickly. It's a lot simpler.
Ouch! the only complicated army?? /stung man! But any way, if your looking for an army that's simple to follow and pretty easy to learn, are Necrons.
and we are for much better coolxorz8Y
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
The simpliest to learn is either Space Marine or Necorn.
Necorn have little varity of units yet each are powerful, much less to think about when creating armylist.
Space marine have some rules that override codex rules, which makes you have fewer rules to worry about (ie They shall known no fear, you dont have to worry about regroup.)
Chaos!;Y just as easy to learn as marines, but spikier.
That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
Space marines dude!!!! Particularly UltraSMURFS!
PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.
