So I have been hearing that there is this “counts as” rule that says for instance an Emperor’s Children army can take Berserkers if you call them “drugies” or something. I have been working on my own army fluff and was wondering…can I take what ever I want as long as I can somehow explain it? Is this acceptable to ignore the true marks?
well, it is with a few small conditions IMO, you can't have an army in which all the troops look the same but you some are bezerkers and others are defilers. That's not the way to go.
But if you wanna call bezerkers druggies and paint them pickled pink, go right ahead, just make sure the opponent can tell different types apart.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

Yeah that's pretty much the point of the counts as rule. Provided you have converted the models enough that people can tell them apart and you make sure everyone knows what they are, you can do whatever you want (within reason). I once saw an entire Chaos army converted into a Space Wolves 13th Company army and it was made pretty clear what everything was, irregardless of what marks were used (none, actually, though there were some units of Berzerkers used to represent Wulfen).
wait im not sure i understand this. What exactly does this rule do for you? Like you can take beserkers and what? call them noise marines? Or like bypass FOC?
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
I think he means can he create a close combat unit in his army using bezerker rules without using berzerker models.
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.
I think people are thinking about this too much. Let's take the new Chaos codex alright? Lets say I am a huge Iron Warriors fan and used to play their cult rules before the new codex came out. I still want to use Iron Warriors, but I want to be able to use the new cool troops like Plague Marines with Feel No Pain and the Beserkers with Furious Charge. It's a bit unfluffy for Iron Warriors to have cult troops though. So what I could do is this - On my list, it says I have a unit of Plague Marines, but fluffwise I'm saying that they are actually Iron Warriors who have obsessed over replacing their organic body parts with robotic ones. They have so little human organs in them that if their robotic parts take a hit they can just keep going. Etc. Etc. Modelwise, I would paint them Iron Warrior colors but probably use a lot of servo arms and pieces from the Iron Hands miniature range to show their machine affinity.
This isn't seriously complicated guys. I hope this explains everything.
