THE SHADOW FALCONS
The Shadow Falcons are a 23rd founding chapter created using Raven Guard gene-seed, in order to help patrol and protect the Segmentum Tempetstus.
The chapter has no home world, instead opting to be fleet based, believing it allows them greater freedom to respond to threats and pleas for assistance.
The fleet consists of two Battle Barges, five Strike Cruisers, four Nova Class Frigates, Twelve Gladius Class Frigates, eight Hunter Class Destroyers and six Firestorm Class Frigates.
The armour of the Shadow Falcons is primarily black with a white left arm and helmet, but the Terminators of the 1st Company have a mirrored colour scheme to this.
The vehicles are all painted black with white trim.
As a successor of the Raven Guard legion, the gene-seed of Corax is used. However, due to reasons unknown, the mutation of the Melanchromic Organ has become further advanced. This has led to the recruits’ skin turning white and the eyes and hair turning jet black almost immediately after implantation.
This is not seen as a problem by the chapter, but as a blessing, as it makes them appear more likes their revered father, Corax.
The Shadow Falcons believe that their father, Corax, is still alive and will return to lead all his sons in the final battle against the enemies of mankind at the Emperor side upon his rise from the Golden Throne.
The primary strength of the Shadow Falcons lies in their speed and ease of deployment, with their forces almost always deployed via Drop Pod and Thunderhawk.
The infantry units of the Chapter are usually supported by the many variants of Land Speeder they possess.
The Chapter tries to adhere as closely to the Codex Astartes as their situation allows.
The Chapter always seeks to establish a solid ground force quickly, under the cover of an orbital strike or attack runs by land Speeders or Thunderhawk Gunships.
The Shadow Falcons are structured slightly differently to that laid out in the Codex Astartes, replacing one of the reserve Tactical Companies with an extra Battle Company.
Each Battle Company is also structured differently from normal as well, with each one having four Tactical Squads, four Assault Squads and two Devastator Squads.
An interesting fluff. Nothing really strikes me as unique, but i enjoyed that whole, hair changing skin changing thing. Imagined a marine being on a surgical table and his hair and skin just like changing colors while hes screaming as his skin stretches and stuff. Maybe add some more? They seem pretty space oriented, maybe some marines that only fight ship to ship?
This is not to dis on anyone else, but this is probably the best marine chapter idea I've seen in awhile. (Besides Shield Marines:rofl).
The thing I like best is that you took the theme you wanted, and tweaked your chapter accordingly rather then revamping the entire codex astartes. Just my two cents, but I grow tired of hearing about DIY chapters fighting at the siege of Terra/ being better than other marines/ being made up of all psykers/ never ever, ever losing a single marine/ etc. Your chapter fits very well with the fluff already provided, and you found subtle ways of making your chapter unique, interesting, and most importantly your own.
The only thing I suggest now is to create a few characters and some history. You have the foundation, now you just need a story to go with it.
I am heading off to the Peace Corps. It is bery likely I will not be back. Good luck to all of you endeavors.
Ah Daelrog, your always there to set me on the right track. I was totally looking at this from the wrong point of view. This is indeed a very nice and solid piece of space marine chapterness. All you gotta do is add some killer heros and your set. TOtal rep

Cool cool. Nice names. Is the master of the fleet held in higher regard, due to the chapters dependency on flight?
Hey, sorry for the delay in reply- computer has been playing up.
AlbinoAlien: Yeah, for definite. He'll be one of the major decision makers in the chapter, i was also gonna have his company spread over the fleet as advisors/specialists?
cool fluff, nice and simple, slightly different and as mentiond before, not over powered.
take a peek at my fluff, its in here somewhere, called prepare for glory, it may give you an idea or 2 if you want to expand.
