Default Imperial Fist and Crimson Fist army

I really like the fluff for both the crimson fists and imperial fists, but playing as the CF I feel they wouldn't be in so many battles due to their need to rebuild their chapter's numbers.

So the plan is to use both chapters on the table both armies (under one FOC) some painted as Imperial fists and some painted as Crimson fists. More Imperials then Crimson.

Is it fluffy for one space marine chapter to support the ranks of another chapter? In this example the Crimson fists would be sending some brothers to help out the parent chapter on a regular basis. Does this make sense from a fluff standpoint?

that sort of thing is called a "Crusade of Brotherhood"
It's happened before. you could even include Black Templars allies and still be justified in a background sense.

It does make sense for the most part; some chapters have very good ties or bonds with other chapters, this varying from chapter to chapter of course, and if one of those chapters needs help it is likely that they could recieve it from another chapter.

As marv335 said, this is normally seen in the form of a "crusade of brotherhood" but is not limited to just a crusade. (The fluff of my Space Wolves has them in a crusade of brotherhood with a Black Templar crusade, having taken up an ancient vow to aid the Templars against a specific foe.)

excellent. I would be playing the army as just a codex chapter, therefore the rules would all jive and i wouldn't need to do any sort of allies thing. I was most concerned that it wouldn't make sense from a fluff standpoint.

Sounds good guys, thanks.

In a similar vein, in apocolypse battles could you have the Masters of the Chapter datasheet representing the joint command of the overall force?
IIRC the Masters of the Chapter sheet says they should be all from the same chapter but could you have
e.g The Chapter Master of the Crimson Fists, A CF Captain, a BT Captain and 2 IF captains?

You could have a Crimson Fists Battle Company, Lysandar leading a titanhammer detachment and BT's providing an Armoured Spearhead of LRC's full of marines.

Have them fighting a bunch of Soul Drinkers and and have everyone shouting FOR DORN every turn.

Would be cool
