Ok this is the fluff of my chapter that Im going to make, please pick holes and whatnot but I think its ok.
The Brothers of Arterius were part of the 7th Founding and were formed as a successor chapter to the Imperial Fist legion. Once all 1000 warriors had been created to the Codex the army set of to the galactic west in their battleship Ventricule looking for a homeworld. At their inception they were known as Steel Dragons.
They came across a planet called Arterius. The planet had a good source of recruits and the planet had a very wide variety of climates from Icecaps to desert where nothing could live. The Brothers of Arterius took these differing climates and studied them closely, seeing how human, animal and even marine coped in the conditions and how their bodies changed and evolved over time. Using these methods the Brothers of Artrius helped the locals populate the whole planet and helped them through technology and intelligence. The recruits had to go through tough physical exercises and also incredibly hard cognitive tests to be accepted into the chapter. They became so close to the planet that they renamed themselves and had a change of colours.
The chapter took more and more interest in the biological aspects of the planet that all of the Veteran Sergeants were trained Apothecaries and carried both the Narthecium to help the fallen marines and the reductor to collect the gene-seed.
The organisation of the chapter is slightly different to that of Guillemans design. The 1st Compan is made up entirely of Dreadnoughts. The planet of Arterius does not have the resources to create Terminator Armour so the Techmarines look after the Dreadnoughts with all their energy. The chapter has a large amount of dreadnought that are operational and they get woken up from their slumber not just for battle, but also for references of research and opinions and knowledge.
The 2nd - 5th Companies are Battle Companies and follow Codex make-up, apart from the large amount of Apothecaries. The 6th - 9th Companies never see the battlefield. Instead of being reserve companies they call themselves "Research Companies" and spend all of their time doing biological research into the human body and gene seed. They have taken a very large interest into why gene seed has been degrading over the millenia and why that degradation has speeded up recently.
The Brothers of Arterius have a predominantly defensive style, sitting back and blasting the enemies from afar. They do not make use of transports as they believe planning and intelligence should mean they know what is coming and have planned for it. They have been known to fight with the Flesh Tearers and commonly support their assaults with firepower and ordnance. They have formed a special relationship as the Brother of Artrius try to find the cure for the Black Rage and the Red Thirst.
"Cleanse the mind, cleanse the enemy!!!"
So thats my Chapter, the army list will be up on the SM forum for you to peruse. All comments and criticism welcome.;Y

I like it, but just some comments:
You should have a reason for justifying why you have so many dreadnoughts in the firstplace, then give a reason why your chapter can make dreadnought armor and not tactical dreadnought armor (terminator armor).
Also why is your chapter so facinated by anatomy that they dedicate so many companies to reserch and to be trained a apothicaries? I know that you said it is out of the interest of discovering the wayning abilities of the geneseed but why should your chapter care so much more than any other, or more than the highlords of terra?
What are your chapers colors/symbol?
Has alot of potential. Good luck
2500pts Emperors Children
1000pts Dark Eldar Cabal of Agony Eternal
2. I was thinking about making them a Blood Angel successor chapter that is very new and so want to prevent themselves getting the Black Rage and Red Thirst. I didnt want to use the BA list or traits though so thats why they are just interested in it.
They will be red with black helmets and shoulder pads. Their symbol is the heartbeat that you see on the screen (like in ER and casualty and stuff). Ill hopefully get some painted up soonish.
Interesting. I think 'new' Dread have been made, I've never seen anything stating that their STC was lost or anything. I'd imagine that, like any awesome piece of technology, they are difficult to requisition and produce, however.
As for Terminator armor, I was under the impression that, similar to Dreads, these suits were made on forge worlds and the Chapters simply maintained them. Perhaps your Chapter has fallen out of the good graces of the nearest forge world?
I would think that, as warriors, the main of the Chapter would dedicate itself to war. One of the tenets of Chapter creation, IMHO, is that one must never forget that they are killing machines bent on the destruction of the foes of the Emperor. Any moment spent outside training or killing is a moment wasted for them. Ergo, I would change your Chapter's research function to either their Codex-approved week of rest per six months of combat or to research done by Chapter Serfs under the direction of the Apothecaries.
What sparked their interest in geneseed? The Blood Angels successor explanation is a nice hook, but since they are now Imperial Fists successors, are they now motivated out of compassion to Chapters less fortunate? If so, they will need to build some damn fine relations with other Chapters for them to relinquish holy geneseed. Or are they more interested in the venom-spitting and half-sleep malfunctions of their own geneseed? Or have they found another source? IIRC the only other place with geneseed is Mars itself, and I'm not sure they'd be willing to give out geneseed.
Nice fluff overall, it's nice to see something different and unique, and this is overall very plausible.
