do all of them worship chaos gods? i mean could they worship say an eldar god?
I Had An Ant Farm, Them Fellas Didn't Grow S***
i guess they could.... some might be:
controlled by the psychic powers of the Necrons
converted to the Greater Good
controlled by the Hive Mind
Worship the Eldar gods
Be enslaved into a WAAAAGH!
"What is Mercy? Does it taste Nice?" Hive Tyrant on Reth V
"Kill-kill! Death to the Enemies of the Horned Rat!" Warlord Bweekq at the Battle of Hrad
I dont see why they couldn't but you would need some pretty good fluff to back it up
I'm going to go on limb and say no. Only one and a half Eldar Gods are alive, the rest are dead. The one that's fully alive is the Laughing God which rules the Harlequins (aka, the bane of all Chaos). The other one is Khaine, but he's been sort of split up into his Avatars. I doubt Khaine is looking for any human followers. Maybe though.
To Hydra, Necrons don't have psychic powers. The Necrons hate the warp. The Hive Mind would consume Chaos Marines in a short amount of time to make more tyrant guard. Orks will eventually kill the Chaos marines for sport. I find it highly unlikely that an Astarte would be convinced by the Tau. Even renegade marines tend to keep some of their anit-xeno training close to them.
I don't want to try to limit your ideas Candlie, but you'll be hard pressed coming up with a good reason why the renegades worship an Eldar god. Give it a go, but make sure you have a really, really good explanation.
I am heading off to the Peace Corps. It is bery likely I will not be back. Good luck to all of you endeavors.
On the Eldar gods.. Remember that Eldar connect to their gods through mythology, and their mythology is (like everything else about them) really, really complicated. There's a big question as to whether humans could ever really engage with Eldar religion, simply because it's too complex for them to ever learn or express properly..
The other problem is that actual Eldar religious groups (aspect warriors, harlequins etc) are more like secretive mystery cults than anything else. They're mysterious and enigmatic, and they don't teach their secrets to non-initiates. Knowledge about the Eldar is far from common.. Knowledge which is kept secret even in eldar society is going to be tough for a bunch of humies to acquire. I guess with a really good explanation.. But it will need some serious thought.
Finally.. There's the question of why. Khaine doesn't intervene often, and when he does, he does so through the Avatar (which requires an infinity circuit, and wouldn't be easy for a bunch of marines to get hold of.) The laughing god is even wierder.. I just can't see him promising all that much to humans.. His main promise to Eldar is to cheat Slannesh out of their souls.
Tau marines sound possible, but the fluff idea seems quite wierd to me.. I mean, what can the Tau actually offer a space marine? Serve a bunch of preachy greyskins to help their race conquer the galaxy so they can give you orders forever despite the fact that live 1/10th of your lifespan and are generally inferior in every way.. sounds awesome, where do I sign up. ;P
I personally can't see orks having the necessary persuasive skills to get marines to fight for them.. Most I'd imagine would rather die. Being beaten to death is fairly mild, and preferable to being turned into a weapon against your own race.
Marines under alien influence are possible though, and they've been mentioned.. How about Pariah-esque cybermarines controlled by the Necrons (no librarians!) And Tyranid marines could have mind controlling bugs attached to their heads (perhaps using the adrenal glands as a model.) Alternately.. You could feasably have a marine chapter serving as a genestealer cult. That might be quite an original idea, and pretty cool anyway.

The only races I see renegades (Not Chaos marines, only renegades) joiningare the Kroot, the Tau and the Dark Eldar. The Tau and Dark Eldar seem like the only race who would even try to get Astartes to join them. The Eldar can manipulate them, the 'Nids will eat them, the' Crons hate ALL living things, the Orks will probably fight them instead.
But the Tau have allowed possibly millions of Imperial Guard to become their Gue'vesa. I'm sure they wouldn't mind ahving their own Astartes strike force, if not to help inspire more Imperials to their side. But alot of this would have to rely on the chapters ideology. The Black Templars would most defintly not turn traitor. But a more lenient chapter, perhaps one disillusioned wiht the Imperium. This chapter should be one of those that highly values civilians of the Imperium (Such as the Salamanders or Space Wolves, who are fervant in defending humanity). When it comes to their religous belifs, this chapter would either have to be one that renounces its faith in the Emporer (Unlikly due to the firts requirement), or one that see's the Imperium as not upholding his values. Even then, it would be a long way for a chapter even this lenient to join the Tau, but it is a big galaxy and anything could happen. I'm sure the Tau wouldn't mind it.
The Dark Eldar, on the other hand, wouldn't mind having a renegade bloodthirsty Astarte or two with them when the go on raids because, lets face it, nothing is scaier then a 7-foot tall humanoid, and the Dark Eldar value fear. As long as the Marine in question was not a Chaos worshiper and was sadistic enough, I can see some Archons as enjoying the proespect of having some Marines with him.
The Kroot, especially the mercs who travel the galaxy, would probably allow a Space Marine by their side. The Kroot don't seem shy of help, hence their memebrship into the Tau Empire.

I could totaly see a bunch of Iron hands space marines turning to the C'tan after seeing how mechanically "perfect" they were or something. Actually ive thought about writing up fluff on the topic because there is alot of fluff out there between the mechanicum and the necron. And since the Iron hands doctrine is to purge weakness throu cybernetic implants and they are tied so close to the mechanicum and the "machine spirit" i could see some of them going traitor.
But as with all fluff be very careful and dont get too carried away.

Well, they certainly wouldn't be Chaos marines at that point. ;Y

Mercenary marines can work for anyone.
You can even have them worship your newly-invented Chaos God of greed and wealth.
On topic: Perhaps if they saved a group of Aspect Warriors from destruction, or if their Librarian sought out a Farseer for psyker training...and if those Eldar were very generous and humble by the standards of their race, they may allow Marines to worship their gods or even emulate their culture. Like training monkeys to wear suits.
