Old One Eye, the reject-strain of Carnifex, was originally created by the Hive Fleet Wasp, after there continuel war with Ork Warboss Hoograk Skullbash. The Hive Fleet penetrated into the Orkish Empire, and soon the two races were in a bitter struggle for survival. The Orks, made souly for war, were faced off against an enemy that evolved to fight new threats, so as to overwhelm any defender. It would seem that, after taking the planet Zurik, in the southern quadrant of the Empire, the Hive Fleet aquired a large amount of Orkish DNA. Mago Biologis now believe that Old One Eye was a mix between a large amount of DNA from different races, and the new DNA was injected into a Hive Tyrant as a test.
The first results were unstable, and many died little after they recieved the new DNA. The rest seemingly went mad, and the Hive Fleet had to destroy those. Mhe scientists on Terra believe that the side-effects were caused by the Hive Tyrants potent psychic powers, and the Hive Fleet took note of its failures. The next creature they tried the mix in was the mighty Carnifex, already a formidable creature.
After incubation, the Carnifex emerged, but it was different. The Hive Fleet had told the Queens to give the mighty beast a Venom Cannon, for support, but it seems that that weapon was incapatable with the new DNA. What came out of the incubatory chambers however was a highly resilient, self-healing Carnifex with massive claws.
The Hive Fleet needed only to test its new creation, and had the chance to when they landed on Fun, the Ork Kapital world. There, Hoograk Skullbash mounted his last defence, and all the Orks available in the sector were present. The battles that ensued were tremendous, and the bloodshed horrifying. Even Orks, who are used to high loses, quell with fear at the mere mention of the battle for Fun, and the few survivors will not speak of the bloodshed that spilt that day.
Old One Eye performed admirably, no matter where he travelled, the Orkish defences were hard pressed, and no matter how much fire power the Orks unleashed on the Carnifex, it would always get back up, and charge once the smoke cleared.
However, the battle was not won, the Orks were too numerous for even the Tyranids, and the defences held, only just. Loses on both sides were in the billions, and the Orkish Empire in that section of space would never be the same. Since the battle was lost, the Hive Fleet deemed that Old One Eye did not accomplish the objectives they had set for it, and they gave up their genetic experimentation. It was thought dead and defeated on the planet surface, burried under tons of earth.
But even now, the earth moves sometimes, and all fear the reemergeance of the mighty beast...
What? Old One Eye was found on Macragge. He was present in the initial leviathan attack (the first major tyranid invasion). He was found frozen in ice after a marine had taken him down with a plasma shot to the eye (hence old one eye). After the pirates had thawed him out he woke up (roughly about the time hive fleet kraken showed up, coincidence?)
Making up your own fluff is great but not when official fluff already exists for your topic. Nice idea though.
A Rhino? SLOTH!
The reason why old one eye anmd red terror do not count as Special Characters is the fact that it is likely the tyranids have created more than one of them, either by purpose or another mutation which results in the creature, well at least thats what I thought about it. Anyway my point being that it is perfectly acceptable for cybugger to make up his own fluff for old one eye, on that point, doesnt that mean that other "old one eye" may not have lost their eye? also they may not even be that old! Well that is atleast how I thought it worked... correct me if I am wrong......

Old One Eye isnt a Special Character because there are more than just one of them. Not sure about about there being more than one Red Terror though... Anyway, this can be seen as being BEFORE maccragge. Anyone thought of that? He digs himself up, travels in some unknown way to the battle of Maccragge, and gets buried in ice, then gets found by the pirates.
No your mistaken, there are probably loads of Red Terrors, but there is only one Old One Eye, due to that strain of Carnifex not being used by the hive mind anymore. As Old One Eye was the sole surviving tyranid from the battle of Macragge, and seeing as Hive fleet Kraken contains no more Carnifex of this strain Old One Eye is on his own. Plus there was no hive fleet before Hive fleet Behemoth (the origional). Don't get me wrong, i think having fluff for your army is great, but not when it is contradiction to already existing official fluff.
Walpo, give me proof that there arent more than one Old One Eyes. Then I will except your critisim. Until then, i spit on your post *spit* (metaphorically)
He has only one eye due to gun fire, not genetic manipulation. Also the burden of proof is on you, cybugger. Coventional wisdom is that tthere is only one Old One Eye. You have to prove he exists outside an ice shelf in macregge. His proof is that there has not been any others ever found afterwards.
But to tell you the truth I think your fluff is fine, it is an interesting (although prehaps not very exciting) way that he evolved. I just dont think that tyranid grunts move beyond a planet, they are redigested. Only dominatrices and Zorn queens move beyond a planet and I am not even so sure about that.
“Cry ‘Havoc’ and let slip the dogs of war! - Julius Caesar, Act III, Scene I
Yes bawdy you are correct. I think the genneral premise is that node creatures are not reabsorbed but just hop on board for the next chow time.
I think Hive Tyrants are allowed to continue but who knows hey...
Oh and i liked the story, if you want toi make up your own stuff then that is fine.

"Thats the one"</span>
"Oh man, look at that."
"Over there, by that river of boiling souls."
"Well I'll be damned... it's a Starbucks."

Great story you made cybugger! Although it's made up, you have some points in it that could be the case in the GW story too. It would be sensible that he is made of Ork DNA, as they are famed for their resilence.
