How many actually survived the attack on Isstvan V? I know that two of the three primarchs made it off the planet alive but how many space marines do you think made it off the planet?
I know that:
The Salamanders, The Raven Guard and the Iron Hands all suffered tremendous casualties, one of which only lost it's greatest veterans, though I forget which.
Ferrus Manus was beheaded by Fulgrim
Fulgrim was horrified by what he'd done, and the daemon in his sword then banished Fulgrim into the corner of his own mind, after he begged him to obliterate himself. From this point on, it was the slanesh demon who was in control of Fulgrim, all the primarch could do was watch.
Vulkan and Corax both escaped with a handful of marines
Angron, Mortarion and Horus all were victorious and unscathed, as were most of their legions.
what Friar Tuck says, i believe it was the iron hands who aswell as losing their primarch, lost their veterans who wer elike his bodyguard iirc, although it was a while ago that i read Fulgrim, where iirc the Isstvan V part of the heresy was published in the series
Back in the zone!
Yeah, that's what I meant, sorry if it wasn't clear.
Also, the casualties meant all 3 legions were rendered far undermanned for years, and are only now getting back to full strength
It also drove Corax to doing unspeakable things in order to get the legion back to fighting strength by accelerating their growth. He nver forgave himself for this, many had to be put down and he left (believed to be to the eye of terror) to make up for his actions.
So pretty badly
When you say a handfull do you mean above or below 500?
In the wake of the Horus Heresy books this really needs to be bumped up a fair bit... Very few loyalist Marines escaped, but the novels make it fairly clear that we're probably looking at a few dozen.
Do you hear that? Thats the sound of my idea for a chapter being torn to pieces by the warp. Wow how did they make it out thats not even enough for a crew of a thunderhawk right?
It is indeed amazing, survivng a virus boming alone is amazing, let alone the giant firestorm that will follow. Followed by a fierce battle with an enemy that is just as strong, well trained and armed as you are, and outnumbers you.
I havent read all of the heresy books yet but is that how it happen, and does the book tell you how the two primarchs made it off the planet?
Thats what it says in the chaos codex. That horus virus bobmed the planet and The traitor legions went to finish off the remaining loaylists
