well if the dragon awoke, and the techpriests, hailed it as there machine god, and there lord and master.
Does that mean they will follow him? even if it means going against the emporer.
Thing is to them this is the ultimate evolution, they are slowly ecoming more machine, and if they had the chance to evolve futher in technology, eould they turn gainst there human god for the chance?
I know maybe sometechpriests like the ultramarine ones will not rebel.
But many of the main ones will.
Hmmm imagine it if they where made necron, they would be necron lords with servo arms.
Anyway though techpriests could end up beoming not allowed in space marine armies if this happened, fopr then the inquisition will call them heretics.
Hmm what do you think? and do you think they should awake the dragon?
Though there is a good bet they will not, there is more chance of the outsider coming in the next big necro campaign, but hey it is worth dreaming.
I reckon there'll be a variant 'Cron list in the next campaign codex featuring renegade Mechanicus, 'Crons (probably minus a few gadgets 'cuz they've been asleep on Mars so long, and to balance the list), the Dragon as a special character, probably, but possibly as a HQ choice or something like that, and possibly renegade Iron Hands with various gear like Marine tanks, etc.
I really don't think that the adeptus mechanicus are going to turn against the imperium.
Say a big war between the emperor's followers; space marines, imperial guard etc and the adeptus mechanicus actually happened, think about how would this affect the imperium. If the imperium wins, then they have lost access to all high end technology currently porvided by the adeptus mechanicus, but if the adeptus wins, then they'll have wiped out earth and the emperor, ripping the heart of the imperium right out.
Both of these outcomes will cause WAY too much of a dramatic change to the biggest player in the 40k univewrse. I think the most likely outcome would be that the dragon somehow turns out to be a nice, fluffly c'tan and becomes a double hard adeptus mechanicus ally. that would be a VERY sweet addition to the imperium.
It doesn't mean the war has to end in the next campaign. Just start. Besides, not all the Mechanicus would rebel, only those most devoted to the machine god. Ever read Caves of Ice? In that all the techpriests wanted to ally with the Necrons and discover their secrets, and were enthralled by their perfect mechanical forms. Of course, they still got ripped to shreds, but I imagine Necrons under the Dragon would be more disposed to deal and ally with them, since he's the machinery/invention C'tan and all.
