I have to admit that "fluff" is not my strong suit. I'd rather paint than learn tidbits from the background surrounding our game. However the whole set of rumours about 5ED supposedly pushing the storyline ahead into the final days of Imperium and/or Golden Throne interested me enough to make me go first to the background section of the rulebook before going back to the "mechanics" part...
One place that I found confirmation for those rumors was the Imperial time-line, where at least three incidents point to some "disturbances" in the power of the Emperror, and one openly states the flaw in the design of the Throne is beyond repair.
What other items did you find that are new or seem to be interesting addition to the universe and confirm the whole "end of times" concept?
I did some more digging, and it seems that the storyline was not pushed forward, merely some more details were added in highlighting latest defeats that the Imperium suffered. So, more of the same, yada, yada, yada............
What little i know about the new flufll points towards the imperium being on its last legs. Everything seems to be falling apart round about the emperors head.
I don't think they are going to have 20+ years of fluff go down the drain by pulling the plug on the emperors life support so to speak. This may be the beginning of the end and he may die in 6th though.
I'm expecting either 6th (or 7th, years in the future) will be called "The End of Times" or something like that, the Throne fails and the Emperor dies, though he is reborn either as a living being, or in the warp battling Chaos directly. The Imperium is dissolved and Mankind goes back on Great Crusades to re-unite.
Those are some drastic predictions I've made, but it seems that it's leading to it. The fluff is getting darker and showing mankind to be more desparate. And it's always darkest just before dawn.

(POSSIBLE HORUS HERESY SPOILERS)
If the rumor about rules for Angron returning as a Apocalypse supplement is true, then here is my theory:
GW can use supplements such as Apocolypse, Planetstrike, etc. to reintroduce the surviving Primarchs. Remember that Chaos has:
-Magnus the Red
All as Daemon Princes. Something as big as the fall as the Imperium would surely be a good enoguh reason the the Chaos Pantheon to push their favored Daemon-Princes into action. Now the Imperials have:
-Lion El'Jonson, supposedly sleeping within the Rock
-Jaghatai Khan, who was sucked into the Webway fighting the Dark Eldar. Not unreasonable for him to return.
-Leman Russ- Returning for the "Wolf Time"
-Roboute Guilliman- While locked within stasis at the instant of death, some fluff does rumour him healing.
-Vulkan- Like Russ, he just up and left.
-Corax- Left after his experiments failled.
Unlike the Traitors, it isn't known if any of these guys survived. But think about it:
-The number of surviving Primarchs is equally split for both sides.
-Half of the Legions fell to Chaos during the Heresy
-Half of the Adeptus Mechanicus fell to Chaos during the Heresy
-Half of the Imperial Army fell to Chaos during the Heresy
It seems to be a theme of the Horus Heresy that humanity was, literally, split apart. As such, if another Black Crusade was launched and succeeded, it is possible the Chaos Gos, who may also be aware of the arrival of the Tyranids, awakening of the Necrons, the irritant known as the Orks, and the general unrest in the Imperium might represent the true sequal to the Horus Heresy. Who better but Traitor Primarchs to lead the killing blow? And what a better time from the Wolf Time/Gullimans recovery/Jonson waking up/Vulkan returning/Corax to suck it up/Khan to stop having fun then a second Heresy.
Then, as all this builds up, in the next few years 6th edition can cover the Second Heresy and its aftermath.

It wouldn't be a second heresy so much as a 14th Black Crusade, but much bigger than any Black Crusade before.
The rules for Angron are real, I've seen them (along with others on the forum), and they're crap. As feared, he's been toned down way too much (he's only 500 points...).
As for the topic, I don't know of any other fluff besides the small part in the 5th ED rulebook has anything about the flaw. GW's probably just trying to cause a ruckus.
