    Inquisitor with a clone army

An old White dwarf had rules for abhuman doctrines that could be used in friendly games. one of these doctrines was the afriel strain troops. Afriel troops are clones that have the DNA of heroes of the imperium, they recieve better training then average guardsmen and i would assume could be brainwashed with the imperial doctrine from age 1.

i want to create an army using the idea that an inquisitor (Inquisitor Afriel) has funded the Afriel Project for his own personal army. his army is comprised of the Afriel Strain troops. These troops would be more reliable and less likely to turn to chaos (perfect for an inquisitor) they also would not feel that killing thousands of innocents to ensure the death of 1 heretic is all that bad. (everyday for the inquisition)

The idea is still swirling around in my head and i just want peoples opinions on this.

Would this be acceptable/likely for an inquisitor to do?

is their anything i have forgotten to think about?

Thanks for the help in advance

I see no problem with it. But when you make it please, PLEASE stay away from Star Wars. (please)

not a huge expert on imperial fluff, but eh... isnt there some sort of conflicting interest with one inquistior wielding that size force ALL THE TIME? I know they can commandeer other forces and often work with certain sects of the Ordos but wouldnt it appear an Inquisitor wielding his OWN army have some personal vendetta/interests elsewhere then cleansing all the corruptness in the Imperium?

isn't cloning considered to be a "Black art" along with true synthetic AI?
the Adaptus Mech consider it to be one of the darkest heresy (Dark mech use cloning to replace Chaos Space Marines)

on that note its fully doable.... hell with the amount of different types of inquisitor running around I am sure there would be at least one sect who would find this type of practice acceptable even encouraged. More puritanical inquisitors may look down on it, I would stay away from using adaptus mech and sister of battle units and the likes..

I agree with the idea that an inquisitor that walks around with an army may have a second agenda. The afriel strain is run by a group of scientists, so if my inquisitor "funds" the program im sure the scientists would be more then happy to send soldiers to the inquisitor the second he requests them. these troops would probably be able to get to the planet to aid the inquisitor before another Imperial guard regiment.

My inquisitor will be a ordo hereticus inquisitor Lord (i figured that would be more likely)

could an inquisitor make enough money to fund such a program?

Commissar Grimsson: dont worry im painting my troops purposfuly to stay away from star wars. Storm Blue for their entire uniform, and all afriel troops are albino. I think that should be enough to keep peoples minds off of star wars when they face my army.

okay! then you have my thumbs up!

Also, I remember reading about clone troops in the Last Chancers series. I believe it was the last book in the series, they were derived from Lord Solar Mecharius (or something or another.)

I liked the whole series, but you could just read the last one for a lil' but of info.

Sounds good to me actually. Granted, you won't necessarily be able to run the inquisitor as a puritan but it seems perfectly normal for a radical. My suggestion would be to maybe run the fluff from the point of view that the inquisitor went rogue taking a regiment of infantile Afriel troops with him. He then goes underground for a several years and trains his personal army.

Course, he also could not go rogue and raise the troops in secret far from prying eyes.

Hmmm, I like the general idea so much that I may actually try to loot a variant of it. If you don't mind that is.

Morkai: If you are interested, the rules for the abhuman doctrines are in white dwarf 302 March 2005 If it does not conflict with forum/copyright rules i could just send u the rules (the bonus you get from the Afriel doctrine outweighs its cheap cost, its only drawback is that it makes your guardsmen a little worse in CC..O NO)

The fluff in the WD article does say that solar mecharius may have donated DNA to the program so ill check out those books. thanks for the info and help everyone

Actually I have that white dwarf issue already. Thanks for the offer though, its most kind of you.Yeah, I always liked the idea of the afriel strain and the combination with an inquisitor could make for a pretty interesting army.

This is the basic idea of how Inquisitor afriel became so closely connected to the Afriel Strain
    are their any fluff impossiblites?

As Inquisitor Afriel started a routine check on a moon off a small back water planet his mind drifted. He has had a string of bad luck. In the past month Afriel has had to give the command to destroy 3 worlds. He investigated planets and found their leaders heretics, and although he requested reinforcements to destroy the evil; the troops arrived so late that the worlds were beyond saving. “Dam!” exclaimed Afriel, “If only I could have an army ready to support me when I need them I could save the holy Emperor’s planets.”

Rumours on the planet say that small buildings have been popping up all over their moon and no one seems to know what is happening. As Afriel disembarks from his small transport onto the barren moon, the ship’s Machine Spirit rings out a warning “Multiple humanoid life forms inbound.” “Get out their and set up a defensive perimeter!” shouted Afriel.
A small Group of Soldiers had already surrounded the ship. The warriors Afriel faced where perfectly organized; one patrol maneuvered while the other patrols set down a heavy cross fire. “Are these Space Marines?” screamed one of the new acolytes. The Machine spirit detected it’s master was under fire it turned it’s turrets onto the attackers. A second after the ship opened fire the patrols started retreating. Afriel ordered a pursuit but the retreat was so perfectly planned that all patrols where able to keep Afriel’s retinue pinned until each patrol was able to remove itself from the range of the turrets at the same exact moment, not a man was left behind.

All of Afriel’s retinue received injurys but all 10 men somehow managed to escape without a single casualty. “The Emperor protects!” exclaimed Jarus, the most experienced man in Afriel’s retinue. Although Afriel agreed with Jarus, he examined his wounds. “Those lasguns where set to low power, hardly enough to kill an armored man.” Thought Afriel. “Those soldiers were ordered to attack us but not harm us, why?” whispered Aldon, an acolyte that was nearly ready to start his career as a full fledged Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor.

Afriel requested one of his few Inquisitorial Storm Trooper squads as reinforcements from his cruiser hovering in orbit but, his vox was jammed. “Guess where doing this alone” mumbled Jarus. They continued to their destination, a small building a mile off their landing point. When Afriel reached the building the doors opened and a small man stepped out. “Welcome!” exclaimed the man. “I am senior scientist Melso; please accompany me into the Barracks.”

Although Afriel was wary of this man, he decided this was the perfect chance to find what was really going on. The building they entered was just a single room with a small control panel. Melso hit a few buttons and the entire floor descended. After a minute, the floor stopped and a door slid open. Behind it stood two albino men, with pale hair, alabaster skin, and colorless eyes. Both men wore a battle uniform similar to the Cadian regiments, and both where well equipped with enough personal med kits, grenades, and Ration packs that made Storm Troopers look unprepared. Both men stepped through the door with loaded Lasguns slung on their backs. Jarus already had his sword drawn and Aldon jumped between the two soldiers and Afriel. Afriel felt an unexplainable hate for these two men, he did not understand why. It just felt like something isn’t right with these warriors.

Both Soldiers moved in unison into the room and saluted Melso. “Command Escort medic K 14 to barracks entrance complete sir.” Both Soldiers said in perfect unison; their voices where identical and Afriel was not sure if both men really did speak. “Thank you; dismissed” said Melso. As the Soldiers walked out, a medic walked in. Afriel knew this man, he looked identical to Kimle, a medic that saved his life half a century ago during a campaign against chaos. Kimle was the best medic Afriel ever knew, and both of this man had the exact same features. If not for their same Albino appearance as the soldiers, he would of hugged his old friend. Then a gruesome fact hit him, Kimle died in that same campaign.

As K 14 (Afriel assumed that was the medics name) looked over the minor wounds of the retinue, the floor continued its descent. “On this moon we have achieved a feat that has only been done by the emperor!” exclaimed Melso, “We have created the Perfect Soldier.” Jarus snorted, “What you claim is impossible, Astrates are the perfect soldier and even they have flaws.” A stern look from Afriel quieted Jarus, “Please explain Melso.”

“We take DNA from Men and Women who exhibit talents for their role on the battle field. Every soldier in the regiment are genetically superior to their human counterparts.” Melso continued, “But there is a small problem; many don’t understand our work and judge us as heretics. They fail to see how our soldiers could be superior.” “And that’s why you attacked us when we landed, you wanted to prove your troop’s skill.” concluded Aldon.

“Exactly!” beamed Melso, “Inquisitor Lord, I beg you to shield me from your ordo’s eyes.” Perfect thought Afriel. “I shall help you on one condition Melso, when I need support from your Regiments, you will send me the Force requested the moment possible.”

    “Bless you!” exclaimed Melso.
