It's a simple question really, as I'm trying to find a valid scenario for this to work under. I was playing Soulstorm the other day and there was one thing that didn't really... make sense. The Dark Eldar going to wipe out the Necrons there. I mean... under which Circumstances would the two fight? Obviously as exterminators of all life, so they would go hunt them down. But what about the Dark Elder, what reasons would they have, realistically - fluff-wise, story-wise, to go into a Necron Tomb?
Under which circumstances would they fight?
The dark eldar are a crazy arrogant bunch, they could possibly do it just to see if they could and to test they're abilities. Maybe the necrons have stolen or possess an artifact that the DE are trying to steal. I don't know what the DE are like about revenge but the necrons maybe the necrons killed/consumed some DE and now they want to get their own back.
Just a few ideas. I think finding a scenario for DE vs Nids would be harder to justify.

Been here nearly 10 years and still haven't managed 500 posts.
You know DE are all about power. So if an Archon heard a rumour that an artifact that would make him invincible (substitute for "incredibly powerful" or "ruler of all of Commoragh" as neccesary), he probably wouldn't think twice before sending in his troops to retrieve it.
Also, say a Necron (Or Nid force for that matter) is cutting a path through an Archons favourite hunting grounds. If he starts losing planets were he gets his favourite slaves, he might take action to help his victims fight off the threat, covertly.

Or the DE have already killed and taken many prisoners on a human world, only to find the Necrons have started to awake and the crons attack anything that moves, including the DE. The DE therefore fight back to maybe get off the world if they are of insufficient numbers, or just for the fun of it.
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.
Another one is the fact that the Dark Eldar are still Eldar, they share the same myth cycles and history (to a point), they could remember the last time the necrons woke.
They would know that the Necrons had nearly destroyed the Eldar species and almost cleared the galaxy of all life. They have just as much of a reason to stop the C'tan as the Eldar, if not more reason, if there is no life to capture there is no life force to substitute for their own........ and she is still thirsty o.o
(The dark eldar arn't just mindless raiders they would like to see the galaxy back in Eldar hands just as much as the Craftworlders)
The way i see them fighting is for the archon to claim his prize (necron lord head) for example I dont think that the dark eldar would stay on the same planet long enough to be attacked by slow moving necron vessels.
Soulstorm doesn't make much sense any way you slice it.
There are no less than 3 Imperial factions, who all fight each other for no apparent reason.

Best that you play Soulstorm with your fluff alarms turned off. The likelihood of all major races except Tyranids appearing in 1 planetary system at the same time? Quite low I believe.
I like DoW, don't get me wrong. But it can be a bit painful to watch in places.

Soulstorm butchers fluff on many levels (like turning non-blanks into necrons...ew...) that there's really no point in considering it canon whatsoever (except when the Sisters win, because that's awesome).
As for the reasons Necrons and DE would fight, well, there's really none except if the two blindly stumble onto each other.
After all, DE are interested in captives and slaves, which the Necrons can be neither, being robotically assimilated and tend to teleport out. In fact, most DE weapons are only designed to incapacitate, not kill, so they might be less effective against Necrons.
The DE spend most of their time in the webway (which the Necron can't enter). There's their pirate bases, and the DE being one of the Necrons' old foes, I bet they would hit them there if they could. However, the DE would probably be more interested in running at that point. After all, the only thing that could happen if they fought the necrons would be to die with no benefit--there's not even a chance of getting slaves!
