Your view on Khala mensa Khaine. Personally I think he (and khorne) are psycopaths in need a serious time out. Torturing his fellow eldar gods. As for the war against Slannesh, I think she botched it. If it was khorne, Khorne would have beaten Khaine. It's like a lone autach standing up against a bloodthirtster. No contest.
Keep in mind that this was Slaanesh at its strongest, right after having gorged itself on 99% of the Eldar Race (Eldar Gods included). At that precise moment, even Khorne would have probably had a difficult one-on-one fight against Slaanesh. Considering Khorne's power, I am not saying the Blood God wouldn't have won against Khaine, or Slaanesh, but I do not believe it would have been so one-sided.
Increasing the diversity of the 40k universe through the destruction of Space Marines, one army at a time...
Also.. I believe Slannesh was actually exhausted at that stage. It has just fought the combined might of the entire Eldar pantheon and won. Slannesh did beat Khaine, it just didn't have the energy to destroy him completely, so it just shattered his psychic being into hundreds of shards. I'd still call that a victory.
Bear in mind that Khaine was 'built' by the old ones themselves, likely because he had something important to add to Eldar culture. At that stage, the old ones didn't need poets or farmers, they needed warriors.. Khaine is fearsome, merciless and terrible, but that's because the Eldar needed to be fierce, merciless and terrible sometimes in order to survive.
Eldar, even craftworld Eldar, aren't really the nice happy space elves.. They're pretty alien and nasty.
I dunno, I think a jetbike Autarch with a lance and mandiblasters may have a chance against a blood thirster if he got the charge (six S6 power attacks? Ouch).
In a way, we can all thank Slaanesh for the creation of the 40k universe. After all, it was Slaanesh who created the EoT, the traitor legions' secret clubhouse that they run off to like little girls whenever they stick their heads out. It was also Slaanesh's birthcry who cleared the warp storms around Earth to allow the great crusade. Also, Slaanesh annihilated an entire empire of them nasty, nasty Dark Eldar.
One aspect of Khorne certainly is the raving berserker on the battlefield. However, it also encompasses honor and honorable combat.
Also, anything Khaine did to his fellow Eldar gods, they had coming to them!

Otherwise, all I have to say has been said. But I leave with one thought. What would have happened if something different had happened? Either us Eldar players wouldn't get our lovely Avatar, or CSM players wouldn't get the Emperors Children.
If Khaine had beaten Slaanesh it is possible that Emperors Children would be loyalist, and that the Eldar could have a bigger and nastier empire. No need to rely on Spirit stones means less Farseers, Wraithlords, Wraith guard and all the Eldar would be less concerned with dying.

Thing is if Slannesh couldn't break Khaine, Khorne would have tried. The eldar god of war, the ultimate adversary for Khorne to fight. It is like a Khornate Daemon Prince going after an avatar. Khorne's followers go straight for the most powerful warrior in battle and fight him. You think Khorne didn't have his eye on killing or absorbing another god of war?
