I know that the pre heresy death guard used mainly infantry. So I was wondering if it was fluffy for them to use bikers and vindicators. I like both of the models and I would like to incorporate them into my army. Thanks in advance.
The Great Plague meets The Devourer of The Galaxy. What does that make us?
Bikers, certainly. Any arny needs some mobile units and bikers are surely an infantry-friendly way to get it. Vindicators, not so much. It would be logical for them to have a few around (the Horus Heresy books have them fighting alongside a Titan), but fluffwise I think they would strongly favor Devastators. You could bring just one and it wouldn't be too unfluffy, but solo Vindicators usually die young if you know what I mean.

The answer to your question depends on where in time your army list exists. Before Mortarion was discovered and took control of his legion, the XIV Legion was known as the Dusk Raiders. They were the foremost fast attack specialists in the crusade forces and were utilized extensively by the Emperor and Horus before most of the primarchs were discovered. The Dusk Raiders made extensive use of jetbikes and earned their name for their surgical terror raids at dusk or sunrise. They were considered the Emperor's favorite before Horus was found, probably because their geneseed was the only one that was entirely functional.
When Mortarion assumed control he made sweeping changes to the organization of his legion to fit his own tactical doctrine. Since he favored massed infantry and frontal assaults, his jetbike warriors fell by the wayside. As Mortarion expanded his legion, jetbiker casualties were not replaced and broken jetbikes were not repaired. Very quickly, jetbikes disappeared from his Legion.
If you're basing your army on the Dusk Raiders, then you could model some cool jetbikes, but you have to paint them different colors. If you're doing true Death Guard then bikes are right out. As far as the Vindicator, I don't have any problem with true Death Guard using a support tank. The Death Guard didn't use infantry exclusively and regularly marched behind phalanxes of vehicles as cover. I'm not sure time-wise whether the Vindicator was available to Legions. If I remember correctly they were created by the Iron Warriors and then slowly disseminated to the rest of the legions, so maybe the DG would only have a few available. I can imagine that they would be a preferred tank though since they are designed for close range city fights which are a DG specialty. The real unfortunate thing is that currently GW doesn't let us mix IG and Marine lists in a smaller battle. That's how they would really be fighting, especially pre-heresy.
