Orks versus nids

This one has been mentioned but never fully discussed. Anyone here think the Orks can beat the nids, or do you think the Nids will destroy the orks. May take on it is that no matter who wins, the orks and nids will beat each other's brains out and there wont be much of the winner. This makes the imperium's job easier as there are enough orks to handle the nids. After its over however, regardless of who wins, the won't be enough to trouble the Imperium. They can just pick the bones of whos left

Well, if you havent read in the 5th edition rulebook, we can safely say that the imperium is just about on it's last legs. So even if we get this galatic spanning crazed ork nid warfare, it's safe to say mankind wont be there to scrounge the green crap off the dirt.


also, its interesting when we see an idea like this, because that crzy old imperium sattellite is still sending pictures of masssed crazed orks througout the galaxy, showing that most of this place is inhibited with greenskins. However, the Nids come from a totally different universe, so,.......who knows...

As much as I'd love to say 'ORKS!!!', I think if there were to be a meeting between an average sized ork WAAAGH! and a Tyranid Hive Fleet, I'd say the 'Nids would win out eventually. Even though in the fluff, Orks release a crapton of ork-spores when they die, The Nids completely devour all life on the planet with revener(?) swarms sweeping the planet, thus negating the ork's spore revival. The nids would then sweep to the next ork planet, making use of the gathered biomass, and destroy the orks again, and use the gathered biomass, yada yada yada. Though this heavily depends on variables, such as, Ghazkhull's WAAAGH! could easily defeat a Nid hive fleet, as their numbers would be so ecpensable. The orks would suffer great losses, but it would hardly be a thorn in Ghazkhull's big green toe. Other things that might effect the outcome would be: Terrain, and who sontrols it, artillary implacements, ork courage, in or out of synapse, what kinds of horrible beasties are present, Efficiancy of biomass use, climate, how 'dug in' the orks are, big meks, the list goes on. Though in my mind, the vast majority of matchups between ork WAAAGH!s and Hive Fleets would result in the HF winning out in the end.

How thorough are the 'nids in sucking up biomass? Unless they clean up 100%, nothing left over nowhere, the Orkz will likely outlast them in our galaxy, since it only takes one single spore overlooked to get the Waaagh! rolling again (Spellcheck suggests that I wanted to write "waggish". Who knew?). Do note that this includes space hulks, any asteroids where ork spores may have been deposites, and so-called Kroozers and other spayz kraftz.
I can easily imagine the nids sweeping through the galaxy, eliminating the greenskins, and then, a few centuries later, having to do so again.

Of course, if the Necrons clash with the Orkz and win the initial engagement, the Orkz are wiped out forever.

This is VERY dependant on the Nids winning the engagement early.The longer the war goes on, the more Orks become attraced to this conflict and the more spores hatching to reinforce the Orks. If the Nids can play shock and awe and wipe out the Orks early, they win. If the Orks turn it into a battle of attrition, then either they win or (Like Armageddon) this conflict perpetuates itself.
