Hello there! Long time reader first time poster. Bit of a fluff guru myself But i have a question to ask, and i'd like your opinions on my custom chapter and background.
1) the question - How do fleet based chapters aquire amunition? Groundbased ones have forges, and factories to create the massive amout of ammo burnt though by a marine chapter. but how do fleet based ones? is it the same, or do they ask the admech nicely / trade with the admech ( protection for ammo). I cannot see the Departmento Munitorium Being part of the structure. Whatever happens It's quite likely to be the serfs that are given the job right?
2) I've written a short index astartes for my custom chapter the Crimson Wings. there is much more then i have written here, but I tried to make it index astartes-y tell me what you think and please be gentle.....
As Successors to the Blood Angels, the Crimson Wings maintain the same blessed status as there brother marines, while at the same time being afflicted with the same terrible curse. Unfortunately for the Crimson Wings, a second genetic curse has found its way into there veins.
The process of creating new space marine chapters has become progressively more difficult in the ten millennia since the Horus Heresy, and even more so since the Storm of Iron incident that lost the Imperium massive stocks of its gene-seed reserve. In an effort to combat the dwindling numbers of space marines, and the increasing numbers of threats to the Imperium the High Lords commissioned the twenty third founding late in the 39th millennium. Due to the dwindling stockpiles of gene-seed, and the desperation of the high lords chapters where required to submit gene-seed directly rather then via the usual mars screening processes. The Crimson wing seed comes from the Blood angel stock and later investigation would show that it was all drawn from a single battlefield, that of Gravehold two-thirty-eight. A world on the rim of the Eye of Terror Gravehold two-thirty-eight was overrun by worshipers of the god of pleasure, The Blood angel six company where sent at the request of the inquisition to perform a rapid acquisition the details of which are missing from imperial records, what has come to light however is that the blood angels where forced to leave there fallen marines within Traitor held territory for almost three hours, until a relief force of Adepta Sororitas from the Order of our martyred lady arrived to exploit damage caused by the Blood angels. It is unknown what exactly happened in those three hours but The Crimson wings critics have argued that the potential for corruption at the genetic level is too extreme to overlook, however Members of the Blood angels have spoken in defence.
The apprenticeship of the Crimson Wings chapter was undertaken by a combination of the Blood angels and the Blood drinkers, during witch the Crimson wings developed a deep camaraderie with there fellow sons of Sanguinius. The assault on Eliza IV was deemed to be the final trial of the Crimson Wings apprenticeship. A joint assault by the Crimson wings, and blood drinkers, backed up with inquisitional support. Eliza IV had long been held by a Renegade cardinal who had fallen in league with the Chaos gods. On a massive fortress of flesh, held by devotees of Slanessh the final assault was made. Little is known of the battle, but of the seven companies of Crimson Wings dispatched only three returned, there first chapter master, and almost the entire first company amongst the fallen. The other Imperial Forces have refused to talk about what happened in that fateful battle, except to comment on the bravery of the Crimson wings. The new Chapter Master Alucard Sustained unusual injury during the battle, and it is rumoured that two protrusions can be see upon his back.
As one of the new breed of Chapters the Crimson Wings are still a fleet based chapter. Their fortress monastery is currently a Ramilies class star-fort, by the name of “The city of angels”. And it is rumoured that displaced Imperial citizens have been allowed to live within this star-fort in return for there servitude to the chapter. The lower Half of the fort is given over to a vast utopian city, and although there is little room for plazas or open areas, the fort maintains a large garden, used by the chapter for mediation, and as a past time for many of the officers.
Lacking a single homeworld the Crimson wings draw from several worlds, often in, or between war zones. Each company is required to return any suitable candidates for training. It is not unheard of for the youth aboard the City of angels to undergo suitability testing.
The crimson wings form a mostly codex chapter, with some slight divergences with squad markings, and specialist units. Particularly in the form of “Blessed” assault squads, and like there Blood angel brethren the addition of a “Death company” (though this is generally much smaller then others of the same stock).
The Crimson Wings maintain increasingly rare views amongst Astartes. The first inherited though there Blood Angel ancestry is that things can change for the better, This optimistic approach has been often viewed as naïve by critics, but is to the imperial populace a welcome beacon of hope in these dark times. The second view is somewhat more dangerous: that the Imperium itself is made of the citizens within it. This often places the Crimson wings in positions of great danger in order to defend citizens, often evacuating innocent people from warzones. This has not as yet crossed the ideals of the inquisition, but it can only be a matter of time before there actions are questioned.
These two philosophies culminate with an unusual role for the Chaplains of the chapter, who are often seen before battle, walking though any allied Imperial forces, spreading messages of hope and joy, before rejoining there own lines to search for signs of the Blood rage. The Crimson Wings also maintain the view of the Blood angels, in that the Emperor was the greatest man to live, but is still only a man.
As with Most blood angel successors, relatively few tanks where given to the Crimson Wings at the time of founding, and while the chapter strives to increase the number, it has had to utilise tactics and methods that can used in a strong infantry based force. Making particular use of the space marine’s advantage over less well equipped troops.
Heralding from blood angel stock The Crimson Wings continue the gene-curse genetic legacy, while at the same time an unusual mutation has arisen. Certain members of the chapter sprout wings at times of emotional of physical trauma. This is though to be a mutation in the Biscopea, Larraman Organ, and the previously flawed Omophagea these members are quickly rounded up into “Blessed” assault squads and are made honoury members of the first company. It should be noted that faitalities in these squads are particualy high.
With the bloodied wings of our fallen, we fly!
ok attached is the colour scheme, Helmet colours follow the blood angel patten of red for tacs, yellow for assult, blue for devies, gold for honourguard.
The white shoulderpad has a hand drawn wing, ( to explain the diffrences between each one the "fluff" is that each marine paints his own)
I have just under two companies of These guys sofar, working on the chapter. ( also have most of there chapter fleet in BFG)
Oh and the 2nd company contains a devistator marine named Tyr. He is either VERY lucky, or a bad luck charm for everyone else..... ( long story)
Your Chapter Master is named Alucard? Oh come on! A little bit more thought and originality please.
But other than that its great, very well done. The Alucard thing is the only flaw I could find.
Oh one more thing, what's up with Tyr?
(><) This is Dead Bunny.

The Blood angel heroes are all named after famous tragic characters from literature Dante? Mephestion? Tycho? All famous to the extent Alucard is, the Primarchs where nearly all named after poets. But thank you for your point, I’ll look into an alternate name.
Ok, every game Tyr has been in he has survived. The last 2 big games fun things happend.....
game 1 - he and his squadmates were firing at a stompa, - helped take it out. Got charged by Chaos termies from a land raider. Should have been all over, the termies wiped out Tyr's squad mates, leaving Tyr against a mass of termies. My allied friend with Eldar charges the termies with banshees and wipes 2 out. - A farseer throws a vortex grenade at the land raider. Direct hit.
Now this is where it gets interesting.....
In the chaos turn the champion with the termies is possessed by "big bird" a greater daemon, he plus the terminators wipe out the banshees. So it’s Tyr against a greater daemon and 2 chaos termies. It looks like it’s all over for Tyr.
The vortex grenade scatters and lands on big bird leaving Tyr a fraction of an inch away from the heart of the warp itself, which is now sucking a greater daemon back into its maw. The terminators (which are no longer in combat with Tyr) begin heading away to defend an objective, firing reaper cannon fire at Tyr. Tyr continues to survive and blows one of them up with a Krak missile.
SO I named him Tyr.
The previous game is made more remarkable by the fact out of 106 marines ONLY Tyr survived. And on the last turn a farseer cast mind war on him, suffered perils of the warp and was torn apart by daemons.
I'm slightly afraid of Tyr now.

********Inquistori Lord Solariun******
By the sounds of things the missile launcher wielding maniac in power armour, can be only one of two things, chosen by the holy god emperor, or a physcic void, both would be remarkable but it would more likely be the latter, imagine a standard marine who can not be touched by chaos or mind tricks... his personal saying should be " Mind tricks dont work on me... Only Lance strikes"
Nice chapter by the way, sounds like you put alot of effort into the over all army, as far as the name for your commander goes, Alucard is fine, i mean you are after all a Decendant of blood angels and what better that a blood suckers name hey? well may the emperor bless your battle cruisers and bolters, and may chaos never enter thine dreams.
******Comunications over ******
*happy dance* ( remarkably like the safety dance)
actualy at the time of the mind war one of my opponents shouted in the face of the guy who's farseer tried to mindwar Tyr "ACCESS DENIED!"
I was thinking of painting one of his arms black to mark him as an apprentice to the reclusiarch
And does sound like you have a nice character to build upon, maybe you should give him terminator honours, for the sake of friendly games, i mean if he continues to evade the blasts of the xeno and heretical mind warping he will be spoted by an inquistor or another, and then well... hell breaks lose then when we bastards of the Inquistion stick our noses in.
Oh by the way,
Invitiation to Brother Tyr of the crimson wing chapter, Your admitance into the ranks of the ordo Xeno`s deathwatch has been cleared, whence you are able to travel to the Ultima Segmantum and find the Forsaken Faith battle cruiser, to begin training.
Brother Tyr Shall be dispatched Poste haste.....
After each strange thing he does I give him a purity seal. His right shoulder pad is almost entirely covered with them now..... Plus it was only after the first battle that i realised that He is one of the marines with a Helm-cam Looks like whatever he did was caught on film......
Well, im currtently finishing of my Ordo Xeno`s force, and so far ive got characters in my actualy DeathWatch sqaud from, my friends and allies armies, but they are only six men strong at the moment in time. so always looking for new characters to throw into the mix.
well then, good video for Alucard to watch then.
I hope you get some pictures up soon of your entire army, i mean id like to know how you do the insignia so i can... have a member of the crimson Wings in my deathwatch killteam, if you dont mind that is?
That would be awesome, and I would be honoured. I'll try and get some pics up tonight. Alas I'm not wonderful at painting,, but they are table top quility...
And I'll stick a deathwatch vetren pad on Tyr hehe.
