Lets say the Emeperor returns, and he finds out how he has been treated as a god and that so many billions have died in human on human fighting that was done in his name, how do you think he'd react? I think the entire goverening class on terra and the ecclesiarchs woudl be in deep trouble for taking things this far.

This has been discussed on this site before. Essentially, we felt that it boiled down to:

--The Emperor never felt that he was a 'god'. The oldest marine chapters do not see him as a god, rather than a glorious leader. Blood Angels in particular follow this creed.

--The Emperor would never want to be viewed as a 'god', since he established mankind as an atheistic empire. Think of him kinda like hitler, except that instead of demanding everyone be a protestant, he forced everyone to renounce EVERYTHING. Karl Marx said the same thing- that religion stands in the way of world unification.

--More than likely, the current leaders of humanity aren't in trouble for establishing a religion or for killing things, but rather for how they have left the Imperium grow so corrupted and so beraucratic.

--If the emperor returned, there would likely be a massive civil war within mankind that would kill thousands. Nearly a second heresy between those forces who follow the "Star Child", the "God Emperor", the "Emperor of Man", the "Ecclesiarchy", and those who were taking advantage of his absence. Marines of course would likely rally to the emperor's side, and there would be a renewal of crusades and a reorganization of the Codex.

Haha- it's all theoretical anyways. Right now it looks like the good ol' boy is gonna die on his toilette before the end of the millenium. Ah well, he had a good run. Can you imagine THAT result? The fact that he is proven NOT to be an immortal God? That would likely tear even the marines apart in strife, and the imperium would be doomed.

Not a chance. GW don't change something until the old stuff stops making them cash. Their game universe has been on the very edge of total collapse since the late 70s. It ain't changing anytime soon.

GW won't be running anymore WorldWide Campaigns for a while. They are having trouble finding a valid system that would allow games to be reported and participated in. They had several people in the campaigns reporting false games. One man reportedly sent in 5, 3K games in 3 hours. Uh...
Also, the WWCs tend to avoid game-changing things now. EoT and SoC were the two campaigns that SHOULD have brought an end to the gaming universes of both games. The chaos players in each campaign took full advantage of everything that they had and utterly ravaged the gameverse so much so that GW had to write unbelievable stories to validate a Chaos loss.

But... back on topic of whole God-Emperor thing:
