Default other alien races

this may,ve been posted before but what about other small hostile alien races.

i mean not like gigantic in the milions aliens, but just maybe a planet that has ben growing alien life and the aliens attacked humans. does the imperium have to worry about things like that

(edit)
i now realize that it is obvious that there is. so how about you post ideas and backgrounds for your minor primitive races.

there have been plenty of minor races which have attacked the imperium and this is a major part of the workd of the imperial guard fighting, defending and conquering these races.

Also you say not in the millions...even 1 world's inhabitants would number in the billions if they were similar to humans...

The galaxy is supposed to have millions of alien races living in it, so yeah.. there are problems with hostile indiginous lifeforms all the time. Generally, when a planet is colonized by the Imperium it undergoes a routine cleansing in which all life forms deemed overly damaging to human presence are exterminated (bear in mind this still leaves deathworlds, which aren't really formally colonized in the same way.)

The Imperium is actually so big that there are many many full on spacefaring races which are simply too small to have been mentioned in any great detail (and presumably even at all, giving you a carte blanche to make some up.) The Demiurg, for example, have a small role in battlefleet gothic but are generally irrelevant to the main plot, since they're reclusive space miners who clearly want little or no part in the affairs of the rest of the galaxy. Heck, there's races like the Jokaero and Xenarch who are only ever mentioned in reference to the devices and technologies they've created (though the former are colourful ape-like beasts.)

The one illustration of a Demiurg.

I have to say they will never make it into 40k. Their entire society is space-based and they seem to have absolutely no interest in conquering or even landing on worlds. Plus they live on enormous high-tech refinery ships.

Why would you ever want to leave? ;P

And depending on how much of a hardon you get over skaven, the Hrud either look like this.

(Sorry.. best picture I could find, not quite typical.)

or this..

Only in the latter case, they're invisible anyway.. That's just an artists impression based on how the corpse looks.

There's also the Umbra, who look like this..

Only all the freaky stuff is just wierd ectoplasm conjured by the creature to kill things for it.. The actual creature itself is just a featureless orb.

Dark Heresy ; Games Masters Kit details one alien race that is plaguing Humanity.
The Slaugth

These guys are described as "Perhaps one of the vilest xenos races known to exist".....

Their physical appearance is described as "quasi humanoid" and made up of seemingly hundreds of "writhing maggots".
covered in a thick "necrotic mucus".

They are highly intelligent and have a high technology base, however they have little desire to make war (directly at least) or acquire an empire. Instead as they are carrion eaters they seek only to destabilize human colonies, sparking internal conflicts or full blown wars so that they can feed off the dead.

In M.37 Lord Inquisitor Quater'maz Knael codified the Slaugh and declared them "Xenos Horrificus". They were to be exterminated wherever and whenever they were encountered.

Despite this there have been a increasing number of encounters with the Slough in the Calixis Secor.

Although there are stats for them (which have to be converted from Dark Heresy d10 system to WH40K) they are very tough to kill. (high natural toughness and regeneration) and come in very small numbers. Perhaps they could be part of a scenario.

I always thought the idea of a Loxatl army would be cool. For those that don't know, their basicaly quadrapedal lizard-like amphibians who wear fletchette launchers around their waist. Notably they smell like sour milk and crushed mint. They also make banners out of a sort of living algee.
They usualy do mercenary work for chaos.

In the big ol map of the galaxy in the 5th ed rule book, they mention a stay system inhabited by the "hyper-violent barghesi". whatever the are, they sound cool.

you should get "Xenology" from BL publishing. Its got really good info on many of the WH40k races, and it has a very good storyline too.
