Angalorum is a small temperate planet slightly bigger than Terra. It is located in the Eastern fringes of the Galaxy and was colonised by man first in the 19th Millenium. Its people spread and diversified rapidly in the planets most livable regions. It central landmass was colonised by Picts and Erinsmen and Geals, while Rhajputs built several seperate democratic states in the east, the tropical island paradises in the far west of the Sundancer Sea became the home of the wise and hardworking Westmains, the Kukri folk built huge temples in the central mountains of the eastern continent and they lived in peace (mostly) with the fair skinned Polvars who inhabited the plains. Warfare between the planets population was rare but frequently they would be required to fight against armis of Orks who also infested the planet. It was early in the age of strife when contact with the rest of humanity was lost somewhare in the early 23rd millenium, with a large portion of of the planets armies off world (never to return) fighting in wars against untold horrors. As it was they were were easy pray to the raids of ork waaaghs as well as to dark eldar slavers and armies of space pirates. It was the acting planetary governer and First Leader of Pictland that made contact with a nomadic group of human mercanarys, who commanded a large vast fleet of warships and city ships. These men called themselves the ANgals and they were paid vast sums of gold to defend the planet. Which they did and after 15 years of blood and fire The forces that afflicted this planet abaited in search of easier pray.
The Angals however had seen that the planet was weak and its military forces much depleted, and they decided that they would make it their home. It was the Geals who bore the brunt of the initial conquest, the lived in the greenest and most habitle part of the planet and they were the site of the first conquests. In a little over 150 years the Angals had forged several of their own kingdoms on the planets western continent, Umbria in the north, Anglia in the East, Mercia in the midlands, Wessex in the South and Lorne in the south west. The Geals cities were destroyed and the vast city ships of the Angals formed the core settlements of their major cities, the few remaining Geals were absorbed into Pictish or Erin lands or bred into Angal families and with in a few generations had lost all sense of the Gealish past. It took a further 200 years to see the Erins subjegated and the Picts another 200. The Kingdom that was left, Mighty ANgalorum was the most powerful and martial of the native kingdoms and over the next 1000 years the set about unifying the planet into a single Angal dominated planet. The Kukri and the Westmains were quickly absorbed into the Angalorum empire, though the Polvars and Rhajputs would fight against them, until crushed, and their people reduced to small and weakened populations.
Angalorums dominance was assured further by the terrible events of ther 25th millenium, when a huge Ork Waaaagah landed on the planet, even managing to detonate a couple of Planet Busta War Edds on Angalorums Eastern continent.. leaving much of it a wasteland devoid of anything except pitiful nomadic bands of wastlanders or orks.
The planet began to be known as Angalorum from this point on as Angals (both those of "pure decent" and those who were more or less only culturally Angal consisted of more than 60% of the population. From the 28th Millenium onwards the planets began to stabalise and the next 2000 years were known as the planets Golden age, contact with other human planets was re established, trade picked up, warfare was sporadic and less costly, with Angalorum rarely the scene of any major fighting. Angalorum began to mine nearby moons, and established colonies on several uninhabited worlds. The rapid expansion of the Imperium of Man passed by the planet initially and it it was never considered part of the empire while the Emperor was able to walk, though it was beleived he was planning its conquest before the Horus Heresy. FOr most of the last thousand years the Imperium has planned to take ANgalorum by force and by diplomacy but has never really committed full rescources to this end until, late in the 40th Millenium, when several vast invasion forces of Imperial Guard were repulsed in the first two Imperial Wars. Costly victories and defeats in the first war saw Angalorum military reforms that aped Imperial equipment and tactics in many ways. It was during the first of these wars that the Marine Chapter known as the White Dragons, defected from the causse of the emperor and swore to be the planets protectors.
The Tau made contact with Angalorum late in the 39th Millenium and they tried a very differnet approach in trying to absorbs ANgalorum into their empire. Instead befriending ANgalorum and supplying it with trade, sending abasadors and engineers to help promote understanind between the two people.Royal Troops of the Angalorum army fought alongside Tau in several wars as allies and equals much to the chargrin of the Imperium. It was a civil war that decide the fate of the planet, with three factions, a large indepence faction a large Tau Unification faction and a tiny Pro Empire faction. THe war was bitter and bloody, with the landing of a large Tau army on the planet finally sealing the outcome of Angalorum allegiance. The small pro empire faction was destroyed and its leaders executed.
The Tau were merciful and honerable in victory the kings and High King were kept in power, and the native religion (the gods Thunor, Wodan, Wayland, Tiwaz the most popular) of the Angals was left in tact, Angalorums flag left unchanged. It was still a part of the Tau empire, and would be required to send troops to fight in alongside them when needed, and Tau "advisors" would be present in all major courts of governence.
The planet is gearing up to retake its lost mining colonies which are still under imperial control, and is preparing for an onslaught of Imperial Troops.

Angalorum Regular Army
A regiment consists of a regimental HQ, and 5 battalions, regimental HQs consist of a training company under a veteran officer (Major/Capt). It also consists of an administrative company, and the Regimental commanders, a Full Colonel, two beveret Colonels and the regimental depot platoon. This collection of troops is administrative in nature and is not fielded in combat, instead remaining in the regimental barracks in their home towns. The 3-5 service battalions are the regiments fighting units, a battalion consists of 4 companies, typically labelled A,B,C and D companies. It also consists of battalion HQ company. A typical company should have 3, 35 man platoons and a small 27 man HQ platoon. A company should be commanded by Major, with the three platoons commanded by the Captain, Lieutenant and Second Lieutenant. Battalions in the field a put into brigades, battalions from several regiments will stake the field in brigades.
Women are prohibitted from serving in regiments as Other Ranks, however women are allowed (and do so) to serve as officers in combat formations and rear echleon units.

The cavalry regiments are either horsed or armoured or both. Again all regiments HQs are similar to that of the Infantry. Regimental HQs remain in barracks with training and administrative duties. A regiment equipped as an armoured regiment will consist of 5 squadrons, these will be 5 combat squadrons and a small HQ squadron. The basic combat squadron will consist of five troops of 4 tanks with crews of 4 men. Each tank will be under the command of an NCO, with the exception of the troop command tank under the troop CO. Thus a squadron should contain 23 tanks. In a heavy Tank regiment, these will consist of three heavy tanks and a medium support tank. All the regiments scout vehicles and light tanks will be attached to the command Squadron.
A horsed regiment is either mounted on bikes or horses. All regiments maintain a small horse contingent at barracks anyway for parade purposes. A fully horsed regiment has its troops of 45 men, with 5 troops making a squadron. Unlike the infantry a regiment often fields all its squadrons together, though depending on the campaign will often find itself broken up and attached to infantry brigades in support roles.

These men are from Angalorums home world but are not Angal peoples, coming instead from the planets other land masses. These peoples are strictly prohibited from regular military duty either due to their unreliability in the field, suspected Imperial sympathies, pacifist natures and the like, others are restricted to Fryd (militia) membership. Some however are considered particularly effective soldiers and thus form axillary regiments that are part of the Angalorum army. These are the dark skinned men from the tropical Westmain Islands and the Kukri tribesmen of the Eastern mountains. They follow standard Angalorum military structures.

The Artillery regiments are organised into battalions under colonels, which are split into batteries under Majors, which are split into companies under Junior Officers. Mounted artillery are organised exactly the same as other artillery units yet they call companies, troops in the manner of mounted units. This is more out of respect to tradition as no artillery battalion uses horses. Artillery units usually serve in battery strength, being attached to brigades, battle groups or task forces, it is rare for an entire battalion to be deployed en masse. Each battery has its own distinct title and number with in its battalion.

Analorum is ostly temperate and contains several main Continents. The first is Angaland. Angaland contains the Pictland archiplegio, Umbria in the North, Mercia in the centre, Anglia in the east, Lorne in the South West, and Wessex in the South.
Pictland is the Northern tip of Angaland, it is a thin sliver of land on a jagged coastline. The bulk of it consists of 34 large islands and 234 smaller ones that spread out and fan out into the Great Northern Sea. Picts, are not strictly Angals, being of the islands indigenous people. They are split into Mainlanders and Islanders. Mainlanders were exposed to a greater amount of intergration with the angals after they forst landed and in subsequant wars, aswell as adopting their Gods. Islanders were for a millenia bitter enemies of the Angals, Erins and Mainlanders. Pictii society amongst the islnaders is very heavily clan based with each clan controling one or more islands.
Umbria is a cold snowy region, heavily mountained in its central region it is famous planet wide for its lakes, picturesque views and its rainstorms. Umbrians are known for funny accents, tough hardiness and a grim sense of humour. It has a large number of mining town and its also the planets centre for the production of armoured vechicles and civillian agricultural machinery.
Mercia is the central region of Angaland. Its hilly in the north and contains many vast sprawling forests. Wolves, Bears and Wood Tigers are common hazards for woodsmen. Its lowlands are mainly agricultural and its is mainly concerned with food production. Its does contain several major mega cities however, aswell as the Royal Military Acadamy. Mercians are known for their funny accents, and high number of funny accents from different regions of Mercia. Mercians are generally regarded as tough, friendly and good humoured.
Anglia in the East, suffered heavily in the civil war, it ws the sight of the Tau battle fleets landing. Anglia is quite a flat low lying region and is the smallest of the Angaland regions. It borders on the wastelands and so the rural communities in the far east a regulary harrassed by Orc and Wastelander raiders. As a result Aglia Frydsmen are generally better than Frydsman from other regions. Its highly agricultural and its major cities are nearly all based in the west of the region. Those cities are the centre of arms production for the planet. Anglia is globaly known for the quality of its toy manufacturers and the number of high quality marksmen it produces. Anglia is known for its funny accents, and its people are stereotyped as being kind but stubborn, generous yet somewhat plain in dress and speech.
Lorne is the south western region, it has the largest amount of coastline out of the Angaland regions. A large amount of this is pristine and is protected by law to preserve its beuty. It is also home to some of the largest cities outside of Wessex. These are concerned with the creation of starfighters, aircraft, Aquatic warships, and Space Cruisers. Its population is known for its bawdiness, funny accents and laid back nature aswell as their love of the sea and space traval. It fields the smallest number of army units, despite it being more populated than Anglia, Mercia and Umbria as in Lorne, Naval duty or service in the Marines is more common. Fishing is a large industry here.
Wessex is the southern most region of Angaland. It is dominated by Lundune, the planets biggest sprawling city, with its huge Royal Palace. The Grand Barracks, The Museum Of Alien Life, Tau Diplomatic Complex, The Merchants Royal Guild, The Great Temple of Wodan and the Rune Stone Arch are all in Lundune. The rest of Wessex is quite pretty but it does have a number of larger cities. Wessexmen are famed for their superior attitude and smug arrogance, they are known for being quite quick witted and sharp, their women famed for their easy nature. Wessex produces the hardest known spirit on the planet known as Red Jack.
Erin is not part of Angaland, but is an Island off the coasts of Mercia and Lorne. Its people are not Angals but are Erin. Erin is percieved as a beutiful country and its famous for the popularity of building work as a career choice for young Erins... indeed Erin are thought to make the finest stone masons, and metal workers in the whole planet. Its South is highly agricultural but its North and West are heavily industrialised. Erins are generally considered a gentler people than the Picts and Andals, however those that fight are widely respected as fearsome if somewhat wild soldiers. Thus they are stereotypd as two types the more common ale loving, song singing worker who is some what quiet and self effacing, and wild, hard drinking fighters who are usually found in the army. Unusually, over women make up the majorty of Erins who achieve officer class (75%) which is opposed to the other Ethnic groups where women make up the minority of officers (7%)

Geography part II
The wasteland is a huge vast expanse that was once a large collection of states. 900 years ago, the Imperium launched its most determined assault on Angalorum in its history. The details of the campaign are insignificant, needless to say, a full Imperial army was able to land on Angalorum Prime. Large swathes of this continent were completely destroyed, the former states of Javaland, New Pictland, Jonisia and Prudia were reduced to ashes. Space Marines and Witch Hunters destroyed whole cities, massacred whole metropolises.. only in the orc infested borderlands was the Imperial Crusade blunted. Even after the Imperials were routed they forced to evacuate they conducted a arial bombardment of the region. The are was left devasted, it what remained of its people scattered into bands. The decendents of this people are now known simply as Wastelanders, and they are scatterd into tribal groups and confederations and exist as raiders and cattle herders, exceedingly warlike and brutal. They are believed to worship animal gods, though how these cults began are unkown. Also in the Wastelands are bands of Orcs of several tribes. Blood Axes are known to maintain several Fortifications in the wastelands from which they maintain trade links with Angalorum, they maintain strained relations with Angalorum, prefering to make war on the orther savager orcs and the Wastlanders as practice for fights on other worlds. The Blood Axes have been known to fight as mercanries for Angalorum. Snag Teef and Warp Edds are the other two prominent Ork tribes in the wastelands, though these are wild and savage, they constantly fight and even raid across the sea and across the border into Angaland itself.
The land itself is harsh and rugged, bitterly cold winters, harsh burning summers, the soil is polluted and infertile, its cities ruined and empty.
A small collection of tropical Islands far out to the west, the largest of these are still only about the size of a large county or district. Its people are dark skinned, honest and happy, though known for their quick temper. They are considered useful soldiers as they cope very well in hot weather climates.
The kukri are a mountain people who fight in the Regular Armys crack Kukri Regiments. They live in the mountains on the other side of the Wastelands, and to join a Kukri regiment recruits simply have to journey across the wastelands to reach the Kukri recruitment station in East Anglia. A tough task for any group. Thos that make it are automatically inducted into a training company.
