Rep Power: 18 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You choose a special character or unit in the 40k universe. You write a short story bit or anything involving that unit, with a maximum of say 400 words. A panel of judges looks at submissions and votes for the best fluff. Winner and runner up gets an award? It would be good if the mods could have a look into this? EDIT: Ok, here are the preliminary rules: THESE ARE PRELIMINARY RULES> THe official competition will be announced in a new thread 1) Very Short Story (600 word limit) 2) Short Story (1000-1600 word range) This will be a submission based competition. Each confirmed competitor must send in at most ONE entry for the Very Short Story OR at most ONE entry for the Short Story. So, you can enter two stories for each category. You MUST base your story on the following quotes and any unit from the 40k universe (e.g. Space Marine, terminator, Gretchin etc..) "Planetfall" "Raid" "Slaughter" "Siege" "Second Chance" "Moral Victory" "A Last Stand" Your submission must be based upon on ONE of these quotes and a UNIT. For example, I might write a story based on "Planetfall" and Gretchin about how a unit of gretchin makes planetfall via grav shute and kills eveyone - lol. Your submission does NOT need to be a story. It may be a journal entry, newspaper article, hell... whatever you can think of. NO PICTURES!!! Your submission does not have to be anywhere near the maximum limit. Anyone want to do a 3 word story? I dare you! ';..;' Judging Criteria The judges will decide the winner based on: 1) Fluffiness - How well it pertains to the 40k universe 2) Style - Is the style or the way you write effective? Does it make the story engaging and interesting? 3) Essence - Does you story capture the essence of your topic and what you are writing about 4) The X-Factor - Does your story have the X-factor that makes it stand out? We have more criteria coming later. Please feel free to write in a variety of styles, such as Comedy or Horror. ANything to make your submission stand out from the crowd. Just be MATURE with your content. No stupid stuff please! Prizes Winner Gets the: Inaugural Gold Helm for Distinguished Warhammer 40,000 Fluff Composition (200 desire its awesomeness! Runner up gets Inaugural Silver Shield for Distinguished Warhammer 40,000 Fluff Composition (200 Third Placed gets Inaugural Bronze Boltgun for Distinguished Warhammer 40,000 Fluff Composition (200

AS I have run a fluff comp before 400 words is a bit short really to get any good stories, make it at least around 1000.

I'm interested in this, though I do not have the experience running these events to make any real suggestions. Still, I pledge my entry and support if it should happen. |

I think this sounds interesting. I will be up for it. I think as well that 400 words is too short. A bit more like 1000 is better. Also quality not quantity will count so a good story 400 words long will beat an average on that is 1000 words long.
