Nothing special, just minor fluff for my kroot mercs
Most believe Master Shaper Stormcloud earned his name by fighting ferociously in battle or something similar, but it was in fact given to him to represent his skills of negotiation. Stormcloud honors and respects the memory of Angkor Prok more than most, but that doesn’t keep him from feeling that relying on the tau’s benevolence is unwise. Since he came to this realization, he has become an accomplished mercenary leader. His name is a fitting one, for whenever Stormcloud becomes involved in a situation there is sure to be the storm of war somewhere in the future.
Stormcloud noticed the evolutionary stagnation of the kindreds who devoted themselves to the Tau’s cause. While fighting the tau’s enemies, the kroot’s variety of prey is limited, and their genetic pool suffers. Stormcloud takes his post as Master Shaper seriously, and with do anything to avoid weakness in his kindred. As a mercenary company, the genetic stock of the kroot under his command remains strong in its diversity.
Pich, Arun, Sokun, Bona and Ponleak
The most senior members of Stormcloud’s mercenary band, these kroot have fought on dozens of battlefields together. They were the first supporters of Stormcloud when he decided to leave the Tau Empire, and have since become the some of the most skilled and dedicated mercenaries in the entire galaxy.
Pich takes the roll of the leader. He’s grim and practical; one who will not hesitate to sacrifice his own mercenaries if it will ensure victory for the entire company.
Arun is the oldest of the five, and often directly helps Stormcloud plan the genetic path of the kindred. The others respect his wisdom, often seeking his guidance when the proper path is unclear.
Sokun is impetuous and wild; the loose cannon of the council. He loves nothing more than the thrill of combat. Rebellious, Pich often has trouble keeping him in line.
Bona and Ponleak grew up together on Pech, and are the kroot equivalent of identical twins. Fierce fighters each, they are a force to be reckoned with when they are together. They are so accustomed to each other’s presence they often don’t need to speak to each other for days on end.
The Poison Thorn Kindred
Originally not a part of Stormcloud’s kindred, the Poison Thorns were recruited to the company after the rest of their kindred were wiped out while under the employ of the Imperium. After a battle against an ork horde, the imperial guardsmen turned upon the surviving kroot and nearly annihilated the entire kindred. Atith, the squad’s shaper, has since harbored an intense hatred of humans.
The Scarlet Mist Kindred
Lead by the savage shaper, Tughor, the Scarlet Mists often paint themselves with the blood of worthy enemies, and the sight of a squad of ferocious kroot dripping with crimson is often enough to frightened even the most hardened of warriors.
The Nine Crows Kindred
Possessing wings after generations of carefully choosing their pray, the Nine Crows are an extremely effective mobile force led by the innovative shaper Sombo. Stormcloud has come to rely on these winged warriors to harass the enemy while his warriors on foot rush towards their targets.
The Howling Winds Kindred
Led by the loyal shaper Tkor, the Howling Winds are responsible for the care and breeding of the company’s kroot hounds. Constantly reminded of the dangers of prey exclusion, the hound keepers are staunch supporters of Stormcloud’s decision to go freelance. Tkor and his two hounds, Ayet and Bolas, are some of the most dependable and effective warriors in the company.
The Silent Rain Kindred
As their name suggests, the Silent Rains specialize in stealth. With their powerful and accurate sniper rifles, this unit led by the menacing shaper Rath is a useful and deadly addition to the company.
Victory is achieved through mettle.
Glory is acheived through metal.
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
I liked it. Its not often you see Kroot anything on here ( cough IG cough Space Marines) and I've long held a soft spot for the carniverous kindred. Any short stories you have involving them?
