The Ryu Legion (Yes i said legion)

“My lord a message is coming through, the com system from interstellar travel,” said a space marine dressed in only a robe.
“Read it aloud my son,” sighed the massive form of a primarch not seen for ten millennium.
“It seems to be a message pre-dated to the Horus heresy.”
The primarch immediately became anxious, this could be the message his legion had been waiting for, “Read it son, read it.”
“It is the message in the form of a video…opening now…preparing feed to screen…this ought to do it,” said the space marine, also becoming hopeful.
A blank screen. Then static. Then more static, finally, a picture appeared and the familiar voice of Dreadnaught Rylanor spoke. “My Lord Primarch, if this message arrives when it is supposed to it should be exactly 10,000 years after the slaughter on Istavann III took place. And if Horus hasn’t taken over the galaxy then you should still be in hiding.”
The Primarch waited in deep anticipation every second passing another wave of emotions gnawing at him.
Rylanor continued, “I remember when The Emperor set you this task, you were furious that your Astrates wouldn’t see combat for another 11 millennium. However, he assigned you his most important task, and that as you remember as well as I, was to find a way to revive him after he fell to one of Horus’s blows. We were both stunned to hear that beloved Horus would almost kill The Emperor, but were more stunned when he seemed willing to allow this to occur. He had said that in the end it would be the best for the people. This brings me to what I have found on Istavann III.”
The camera winged around to a large metallic looking slab of stone,
“My Lord, this slab has incredible healing powers, it is used by apothecaries and the mechcanicum of mars to heal Astrates. However what I have found today is the greatest concentration of this substance ever found in history. It is also the material The Emperor said would be waiting for me ‘in the jaws of death’. And that is exactly where I am. The loyalists are doing their best to keep the traitor scum at bay, but we can’t hold for mu”… a loud bang interrupted Rylanor…”ch longer. You must come here during your time and retrieve this item, I’ve sent you the co-ordinates for once you arrive on the planet. Now go, I have no more time to talk!”
The image faded away in a bright flash that left it impressed in all of those who had seen it.
The Primarch stared at the screen in disbelief. When he recovered he was aware of everyone staring at him waiting for orders,
“You heard Rylanor, ready the dormant fleet, prepare the legion, it is time for us to show ourselves to the Imperium of man. May they be invigorated with hope at our return! Now go there is work to be done!”

Chapter (actually legion): Ryu Legion
Founder: Val the Drake (Only living Primarch)
Origin: Terra (although they have not recruited for 11,000 years

Ryu legion is actually a legion not a chapter, they do not follow the Codex Astrates because they do not know of its existence. The were hidden on a planet without a name, and have now only emerged to supposedly save the Emperor. They have a Primarch, and all of the original Astrates from its secrete founding are alive. They have been living in hiding for 11,000 years under freezing , tasked with emerging from hiding when and only when there is a apparent way to save The Emperor. My whole legion is based around the possible fact that The Emperor knew of the possibility of Horus’s betrayal and set the Ryu Legion as a safeguard to his return. For all those non believers look up star children. It basically talks about his physic return, whereas my legion is going to ensure his physical return. When they re-emerge from hiding they will probably be tracked down by inquisitors, for my legion (at the moment) does not believe The Emperor is a god. Remember that the only contact they’ve had with the outside world was with the mechcanicum, and that was only so they could get upgrades to their weapons and the like. They have a fighting style that depends on the heavy use of terminators, as much of their men have been alive for thousands of years and have seen countless millions of mock battles before they had to go into freezing to preserve their life. Their colors are black and gold. The black stands for mourning of The Emperor, while the gold stands for the reconstruction of the Imperium, and the possible return of The Emperor. At the moment this is all I have. Any questions, constructive criticism and corrections are welcome

Also my primarch was the one of the 20th legion, whos tank was punched by Horus. This weakend the primarchs combat abilities. However he has the ability of invisibility, which he can extend to his whole fleet while travleing, this way even if the inquistion can track his ships down, they will never see them, untill they get to istavann and make war upon chaos there proving their loyalty to the emperor.

Now heres my question, i know SM cant live for 11,000 millenia unless they were dreads. So what im saying is good idea but back it with a different amount of time so its make a lil more sense, besides that great job

I would consider reading the fluff guidelines at top. It's well thought out, but... why do so many people feel the need to make a Primarch and a Legion? (I really wish GW would just fill in those gaps already).

I highly reccommend making it just a chapter. I say this because if you break the canon, then few people will take your army seriously.

You can make a very cool and well thought out army without having to make it better than everyone else around. After all, sometimes weakness and vulnerability make an army just as compelling, if not, more.

True, and they would be at a massive disadvantage to the rest of the universe not having the same technology available to them as all the others chapters. Pre Heresy armour and equipment .... unless they have developed there own new kit, but then this would in all likely hood bear no resemplence to standard marine kit. You could say they have all been kryogenically frozen so the age thing isnt to bad. But having actually no idea about current events, the state of the empire, the rise of the Grey Knights ect ect and their reliance on archaic tactics/ equipment.

However it is a cool idea. I'd opt for cryogenics or that they have for 11 000 years intermingled and married with native women... not being astartes this would not be a problem ensuring the survival of the chapter. Its combat abilites would have rusted after 11 000 years of peace though.. so youd have to say the planet they were hiding on has been besieged by Orks/ Tryanid swarms/ Other alien life forms for most of the time.

Wow thanks guys! Here is what i was thinking. I will go with the frezzing thing, except for the marines in the room which will probaly be drednaughts and the primarch. I beleive ill keep the primarch(for it is the biggest thing i like about marines.) HOWEVER im thinking that since The Emperor probaly knew that eventually the primarch would have to re-emerge, so in order to not have a super powerful being that everyone would listen to out in the imperium he probaly would have set perameters on his powers. I just want to have a primarch on the field just for the pure since of fun it would give me. If anyone can tell me the most powerful character in the SM army then i will just assimilate his stats, make my conversion and call him a primarch. The freezing would also account for their battle prowness, the freezing would make it so it felt as if they were asleep only for a few days, and everything will be the same when they wake up.
Thanks agian guys ill work on the new background. Finally id just like to mention that i did this all without the codex, which ive yet to buy .

P.S. They have had contact with the armourers of the mechanicum so they do have the newest weapons armour, and of course termie armour!

I have redone some of the story guys, in their history and primarch at least take a look!
